I have been running ProntoEditNG v2.1.8 in compatibility mode under 32-bit Windows 7 on my PC. I just upgraded to 32-bit Windows 10 and now ProntoProEditNG opens but won’t upload or download .ccf files because the driver seems to be missing and there doesn’t seem to be a compatibility mode in Windows 10. I downloaded ProntoEditNG v3.4.16 hoping that would fix the problem and tried to use it to update the older version (v2.1.8), but when I tried to install it, it asked me to connect the Pronto to a USB port and then when I try to install it warns me that it will overlay my .ccf file. I’m reluctant to do this since the Pronto will then be inoperative if I’m not able to get ProntoProEditNG working. Is ProntoProEditNG supposed to work with Windows 10 and if so, how do I install the missing driver without wiping out the .ccf file on the pronto?

If you have a TSU3X00, TSU7X00, or equivalent, this post really should be in the Next Generation Forum. In the NG forum, I believe I have a detailed thread about the driver. I recently installed PPENG and I believe it had a folder under the location where it installed for drivers. Note that only the TSU7X00 remotes require a driver the TSU3X00 remotes used the HID drivers from Windows. Here are a couple of links for the 7000 series driver. [Link: remotecentral.com] [Link: remotecentral.com] If you'd like me to move the thread to that forum, please indicate such and I will move it. With regard to your question about working with Windows 10, Philips has not touched this software since circa 2004. Some folks have gotten it to work with Windows 10. I personally still use Windows 7 32 bit for my Pronto work but suspect in the very, very near future, I will move to Windows 10. As I only have Pro Remotes remaining, I am very hopeful that I can continue my efforts on Windows 10.

Thanks Lyndel. I'll see what I can do with the info you provided. Yes, you can move the thread.

I have not been able to get any further than you either. I just pulled out an old PC with XP on it and setting back up. I saw a work around on youtube but didn't try it.

For several years I have been successful running PENG or PPENG in a virtual XP machine under VMware Workstation.

Like 411Avatar I'm using Windows XP on a virtual machine using Vmware Workstation which is free for personal use on one machine. I bought an RU990 a month ago and it works perfectly using the virtual machine and Windows XP SP3. Stoobie

I'm still running PPENG on a laptop with Vista, which is very slow and painful. Has anyone figured out how to make it work with Windows 10, which I have on my main computer? I can open the program but it won't connect to the Pronto. Wyant

Hi Wayant, I think the issue you will be having is there are no 64bit drivers for the Pronto and your windows 10 install is likely to be 64bit. As the two posts above yours say is a Virtual Machine is probaly your only way. Mine runs perfectly. Stoobie.

Thanks for the reply. How do you run a virtual machine under Windows 10? I thought that feature went away after Windows 7. Wyant

As Lyndel says VMWare has a free version and so does Oracle VM VirtualBox. I have both on my system and they work really well. I run Windows XP SP3 Stoobie

I too can recommend VMware Workstation. I have VMs for work but also for TurboTax and other things like an old XP VM for the Pronto stuff. Just keep them backed up and never have to worry about my main OS and if something will stop working. It’s also nice not to have a bunch of apps installed in the main OS.
