when the remote is placed in the base the charging lights on the base do not go on and i assume it is not charging. I tried another AC adapter with the same output (12V 400mA) but that didn't work. The remote is living off it dying charge. What are the suggestions for either repair or replacement parts.

The second part to this is something made that would hold disposable batteries that i could use to power it.

Thanks

Search for +Bel +fuse +link since the dawn of time and you can find directions on how to fix a busted fuse link. If the lights don't come on with a different adapter, then most likely the fuse link which, if you have a friend with a soldering iron, this can be replaced rather easily.

Just to make sure, the lights on the charger should should be dimly glowing (turn out the lights) even without the remote on the base. If they're not, and a new adaptor doesn't help, then it's almost definitely the fuse link.

Thanks for the replies. Bottom line was that early this morning i camped outside of the shop of the guy who has been repairing my equipment for years. Usually there is at least a two week wait for the repair on whatever equipment is being worked on to be returned rarely longer if parts are needed. I put on my most sympathetic face and he returned it to me two hours later. It was the fuse plus a few other things were loose (connector where AC adapter plugs into base. He charged me $75 and i was thrilled to pay it.

Wow, $75... ouch.

Guess I need to say I'll be happy to solder in a new fuse for $20 and return postage!

Cheers,
Doc
