In another thread, I suggested a new term for home theater components that do not support discrete codes for power or inputs. I called these components "Toggle-Only Actuated Devices," or TOADs.

Someone then suggested that we start keeping a list of known TOADs in order to save a lot of code-searching for people who are trying to program their Prontos. For example, I searched for discrete codes for my Panasonic VCR for three weeks before finally figuring out that there weren't any discrete codes for it, even though other Panasonic VCRs do support discrete codes. I'd like to save other new Pronto owners that kind of time and trouble by keeping a list of devices that are known TOADs.

Although ANY feature could be toggled or not, I think that the most common need for discrete codes is for ON, OFF, and discrete inputs. So let's define a TOAD as any device that doesn't support those things. Lack of any other discrete codes does not constitute a TOAD.

So seriously, let's help out new owners and try to make a comprehensive list. If YOU have a known TOAD, please post to this thread and add it to the list.

Here's the (very short) list so far:

TV- Toshiba CF3566A 35"
TV -Toshiba CF36H40

VCR - Panasonic PV-4060
VCR -Phillips VRZ360AT

Cable Box - General Instruments GI-1000

VCR - GoVideo GV-8050 Dual deck VCR. Go Video also informed me that ALL of their VCRs were TOADs.
VCR - Panasonic PV-4268
TV - Sharp 20RU719

Great Idea!

An Aiwa Mini system (CD/Tape/Tuner) called an Aiwa NSX-3500.

No discrete on off.

Another one I have is a VCR: Funai F2860L

No discrete on off.

This is a good idea which I'm sure the other remote forums could benefit from!

dammit.

add the kenwood vr-209 dolby digital receiver to the TOAD list. tried every code. poopie.

i'm also having serious doubts about the panasonic p-10 portable dvd player, but since it's got 65536 codes and i've only made it through about 1000 or so, i'm not too sure. i *am* sure that i won't end up testing all of the other 64000 codes though!

I've got a Panasonic DVD-L50, the successor to the L-10. As far as I can tell, it responds to all of the discrete codes that the A110 does. I'm surprised to learn that the same is not true of the L10.

Someone put a Philips VCR. I have a Philips VCR and discrete codes come on the remote.

PHILIPS VCR "DISCRETE" POWER CODE
[Power] turns VCR off
[Stop] turns VCR on

I have a Philips VR-675. A better power on code would be appreciated.

Add the Rotel RSX-965. It has discrete codes for inputs, but no discrete power on, power off.

Yup, the Panasonic P10 dvd doesn't respond to the A110/A310 codes. :( I've got another thread going about that ... any help would be appreciated.
