im new to nevo. .
ive programmed around 200 harmony remotes ,
and i recently started using nevo (after testing one for a few weeks i fell in love with it)

ive sold and installed 3 nevo q50's so far with nevo connects . .
they work really well,
but in two of my locations the remote looses connection with the base
too often.

the bases are in a local closet about 20 ft away from viewing area,
stacked on top of a bunch of av equipment.
in the same equipment area are my wifi routers . .

could those be creating the interference ?

any suggestions ?

thanks

Some NevoConnects had an antenna problem. Apparently, just tightening it sometimes helps, using another antenna sometimes works, and in any case, Nevo replaces affected units.

But 20' in an enclosed closet could be the problem. Are there other RF devices in the household, particularly anything in the 900Mhz range?

Hi,

Yes it could be the issue.

Try moving the NC-50 away from the equipment to see if it helps.

In my experiences a faulty antenna would not work at anything more than 6ft.

I would have to agree with Syd... I have used extension cables in a couple of jobs which allowed me to put the antenna on top of the cabinet and get better reception. Nevo support actually helped me through the process, give them a call...

nevo had recommended this to me:

[Link: wisp-router.com]

so if the base is still on the equipment,
but the main antenna is 5 feet away . . that would help?

also - has anyone tried extending this antenna further away?

also,
would keeping that magnetic antenna on the back of my plasma etc cause any video interference ?

You're asking a lot of questions in the past few days, which is great. But I think you're more likely to get direct responses if you keep each in its own conversation. If the same questions start getting spread over all your threads, the discussions can get diluted as the responses are scattered around. This not only makes it harder to follow now, but also for those researching similar problems in the future.

Just a suggestion. :)

Did you isolate your problem yet? We had the same issue. It was a bad router.

actually yah . .

one location the antena wasnt screwed in well (lol)

the second location the base was behind 12 inches of concrete . .
i ended up extending all emitters and video sensors via cat5
to behind the tv, and kept the nevo connect behind the tv instead of in the closet . .

that way it would be a lot closer to remote . .

thats pretty much what i do at most jobs now,
if the base is too far from user, i just wire the base to behind the tv.

should work no problem from 20ft away. i use my q50 in my second floor office with the nevoconnect in the equipment rack located in my basement. higher up in the rack the better, away from AM/FM Tuners as well. and away from metal above the antenna like any duct work. nevo posts 100ft on their comparision chart but i've found 50ft to be the norm.

also - i've seen instances where the first time you associate the z-wave network, it doesn't take properly. just doing a factory reset on the z-wave and the nevoconnect and reloading your project and doing the associations can help.
