I'm about to set up my home theater with my Nevo Q50 along with the NevoConnect NC-50. With the NC-50 I would like to use 3.5mm cables directly to my CE devices that have an IR input. Do I use stereo or mono cable plugs? For example, with the Oppo BDP-83, the manual says:
Tip: +5V Ring: IR signal Sleeve: Common ground
I can only assume that it would require a stereo plug for the above to work. I have also read in various forums that a mono plug is needed. Which one?
Any help greatly appreciated.

nevo uses a mono plug for i/r, and a stereo plug for the serial adapter and voltage/video sensors.
i would think that you would need to make a cable that has mono on the nevo end, and a stereo plug with only the i/r and ground connected on the oppo end.

Thanks for the info Duct Tape. Clears up the mud nicely. I have to pick up a second NC-50 unit from my Nevo guy here in town so I'll pick his brain about as well and see what comes about.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific (I don't use hardwire IR on my Oppos), but I think there is something different about the 83's IR port. Oppo will send you an adapter and the proper cable (for free, I believe) if you request it.
