I want to purchase a S70 that indicates it includes all software and hardware. Is the software locked in any way I have to contact a dealer or pay additional money to anyone?

No, but I have seen the posting on flea bay. this is a guy that ordered 2 I guess and decided one is enough for his AV system. He saids all I need is in the box. just making sure. from what i have read here and at AVS, it is complete enough to program. you just have to register the software and say you are a dealer.

it does come with the software in the box, and that is technically all you need to make the remote work.

however, you should consider adding a Nevo NC50. that really opens up programming options for the remote and turns the remote into more of a control system.

also, you should realize that you will not have a warranty for the remote unless it is purchased through an authorized dealer.

One thing you might want to consider, you'll need a Windows machine to run the software (or at least a windows VM - haven't tried it on my macbook yet, but in theory it should work). I believe the s70 is a WinCE device. Do they still call it CE or is it just Windows Mobile now? Either way, software is Windows based.

You can always call a certified dealer (Like RemoteQuest) to purchase one and you will have no worries and receive great customer service, warranty, etc.
