I payed $700, for the first boombox with a cd player in it, it was the Sony CFD-5. What I always thought was funny, was the replacement for the CFD-5, was the CFD-888. Sure was big jump in model #'s.

How about car radios that you pulled the whole unit out, now adays just the face comes off. Or even has a 6.5 in lcd screen. Or a 3 or 5 disc changer. Some with cassatte. Cassette, what's that?

Here's a real downer for us remote junkies. Cable boxes that you either had to turn a knob, or flip a switch in three different positions while you selected a channel from push down buttons.

VCR's had flashing 12:00 because people didn't know how to sit them. Now it's done on it's own. Well, some of them do.

Laser Disc anyone? Or also known as Laser Vision.

AC-3??, Even though the soft ware came out in 94. The players and recievers came out after them. Not sure if it was the same year or not.

Remember when all LEDs were only red?

McDonald's servered 56 billion. Now it's Billions servered. (yeah I know off topic, but I don't care)

How 'bout the collusion between hollywood and the vcr makers. Remember HQ vcr's, everyone had to have one. The circuitry in the new HQ vcr's is what enabled the macrovision protection in the prerecorded video tapes. Only if we had known.

Can anyone name the first copy-protected video?

Anybody remember CED? RCA units that played video mechanically? I had one that I bought in NYC from Crazy Eddie for $100 in the mid '80's. I also got five disks. This was at a time when it cost $70 to buy a recorded video tape (I was using Beta). I figured it was a good deal since the free movies "paid" for the player. The disks were available, with new relases, until the late '80's. I recently sold the player, no longer working, and the movies on ebay.

i remember when i got my first console games machine it was a Grandstand tennis game and it didnt have a joy pad or joy stick but a paddle ,a rotary control to move a line up and down the screen.
I loved it when you could fool the game on one player mode and trap the ball in a corner and just leave your line in one spot for ever if you wanted. was that the first bug in a computer game?!
