^^^^^ THIS GUY Have a demo MX-5000 from our family room demo. Was replacing it with Total Control in that room. Sold the MX-5000. The guy who bought it, received it, and sent me this picture asking if I have a yellow lab. Which I do. No doubt, that's my dog's hair. This guy called URC and they advised him to send it in and let them try and get it out. They received the remote and told him they couldn't remove the screen and get out the hair. In my opinion this is a cop-out. The remote is out of warranty, but are they saying that at around month 13 on a $1,000+ remote, your screen will allow in dust, dog hair, whatever? That's not supposed to happen in my opinion and they should fix or replace this. Maybe I'm being unfair, but this is a manufacturing defect and shouldn't happen.

Dog hair was not part of their manufacturing, that was your environment. And the warranty is 12 months, not 13. What is the problem here?

lol before I even opened the thread I said out loud "this guy". While I don't think it should be covered under warranty I find it hard to believe they can't open it up.

No problem here other than their remotes are susceptible to foreign particles under the screen. If this is an ok scenario for you then I'd hate to be one of your customers. Legally they owe me nothing. No argument there. However I owe them nothing either and am just letting this scenario known. Just so that's clear to everyone. If you buy a $1,300 remote from URC, I hope you don't own a dog or that you live in a manufacturing clean room.

Dd you hold that thing in your hand before you first bought it? I looked at when it first came out, picked it up, played with it, sat it back down and never looked back. It just felt cheap.

1. Is it kosher to sell a demo unit? (I have no idea) 2. Did you not see the hair when you sold it? 3. Is it possible the remote had been dropped, opening up a gap? Agree that it's strange they can't dismantle it and remove the hair.

1. Is it kosher to sell a demo unit? (I have no idea) Absolutely. 2. Did you not see the hair when you sold it? The hair wasn't in view of the screen when I sold it. I'm assuming it was inside the remote and in shipping became visible. 3. Is it possible the remote had been dropped, opening up a gap? It's a demo remote, lots of use but certainly no damage. Not even a scratch anywhere on the remote. Agree that it's strange they can't dismantle it and remove the hair. For a hair or anything else to be able to get between the screen and the LCD is a manufacturing defect in my opinion. Imagine if a phone allowed particles in between the screen and the LCD? There would be mass outrage, warranty or not. If this were an actual customer, I would be giving them a replacement remote, apparently out of my own pocket. As a consumer I wouldn't stand for it, as it shouldn't happen.

Have you talked to your URC rep about this? Exactly, A good rep would take care of you if he wants you to continue selling his or her product!

Did you actually send the remote in and talk to URC yourself or did your customer tell you what they said? Sounds like hearsay, not admissible in court.

Did you ask your dog how he got his hair in your remote?

Kind of a difference between water and airborne particles. Have a 5th grader explain it to you if you're having trouble. And I'm talking about something as large as a dog hair. Not dust particles. I'm certainly not advocating swimming with a remote here. A bit of a stretch to go from owning a dog to washing your remote. Half the country owns a dog. These remotes can't be owned by anyone with a dog? Your responses are just antagonistic.
