Or HDfury's for whatever HDMI device you need and plop it into the component matrix.

Maybe change out the control system with new remotes. EA3 as director and sprinkle CA1's where needed for zigbee. Then he can also get the benefit of streaming music.

If the remotes are still good, you can replace the MSC with an MRF-350 and move the macros to the remotes. Probably a lot of programming involved with that.

For programming: as long as you have the software, you can import the programming from the MSC.

MSC-400's need to be programmed in a 32bit WinXP/Win7 environment.

Have fun with that.

I use a Windows 7 VM on a Windows 10 PC and it works fine. I’ve also used Windows 10 32-bit. But it’s my personal MSC and I don’t feel like replacing it.

I wasn't aware that you couldn't reprogram the existing equipment. I would drop it then. You don't want to waste your time learning to program an old system just to sell a couple rokus and converters from amazon.

Clients best bet is to find a company that does URC.

whens the last time you tried in your win10 install? Because An update in the fall broke a lot of legacy 32 bit drivers.

I had W10 x32 working with the MSC-400 as recently as December. All patches were current. I‘ve re-imaged to W10 x64 since then so I can’t test again.

I moved to the W7 x32 VM because the W10 updates broke Windows Mobile Device Center. And that broke all my old MX-980s.

Can you leave the gun and take the cannolis?

Put in the C4 you know, with the matrix he has and add local Rokus?
Not sure how much of your quote is video distribution vs control.

Then when the DirecTV or Matrix etc need to go, you're half way there and established with the system. Maybe he later cuts the cord and it all goes away.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

That's the crappy thing, all the URC works, at the moment. My idea on the quote was 10k for video and 5k for control, plus a lot of fluff for misc parts, programming and labor. But hey, he would save $20 bucks a months if he ditched 2 of the 4 DTV boxes! He is a boomer guy, so I don't see him cutting the cord.

To add sources locally could work, but I would have the problem of sending audio back to the rack for the main 2 video zones. I don't know if there's extra catX wiring.

Thanks for all the input, guys!
