I have advised one dealer who has a non-working $27k vnet lighting job to approach Lutron about offering a discount for a re-do. Suggest others ask their vendors to do the same.

Lutron? Discount? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....oh...that was a good one.

Why? Just source your gear from Best Buy... umm i mean Magnolia.

Yeah I know, sadly I was shaking my head at my own statement. I went past C4 when going with vNet and then C4 ends up at BestBuy. Then again, quite a few of people's favorite lines end up there somehow or another. I was looking over C4 again, all I see are wireless dimmers and I really wasn't looking at doing a repackaged RadioRa system with more controls. I much prefer the hardwired solutions so I may keep shopping.

I actually liked vNet's performance and didn't dock them anything in that regard. They had a few qwerks, but who doesn't?

From whom?

Hannity on Fox network? Definitely unsubstantiated rumors.

The Howard Stern show? Not enough T&A appeal to come from him.

Seems like wasted money spent at Cedia if it is true.

Glenn Beck said it's not true.

I like how they try to differentiate the 2. When will they learn that the 2 are the same company no matter how they try to slice it.

For anyone out there looking for additional alternates to Colorado V Net, I would suggest taking a look at Square D Clipsal Lighting and Automation by Schneider Electric ($20+ billion global sales). Although the product is relatively new to the US, there’s 50K+ system installations over the last 10 years internationally. They cover lighting, touchpanels, occupancy sensors, multi room audio, HVAC, web interface, etc. Compact 4 and 8 zone dimming modules are DIN rail mounted and 100+ components daisy chain together on a Cat.5 cable up to 3300ft. There’s also a wireless RF dimmer offering for traditional wiring applications. Web sites are: www.mySEhome.com and www.squaredlightingcontrol.com For more information in the Northeast, e-mail [email protected].

so making a recommendation to dealers who may have $20,000+ lighting jobs in the balance to look at a product that may be similar and could help them out in a really bad pinch is being a vulture?
I love supporting product that supports me!

Hell, I looked at it, being on the electrical side of things as much as A/V I at least know Schneider and Square-D. Their homeline panels suck but they make some good products. Actually looks pretty decent. His one post put them on the list of possible alternatives.

Vulture away :)

SquareD? I think I remember them. They are the same ones that started Elan and then unloaded them when they didn't make billions on it right away, right? I know the Clipsal system may be just fine and that it is quite well known overseas. I just find the idea of replacing jobs from a company that is going bankrupt with another company that has just started to try to break into the US market, a company that is being distributed by a company that until now has had 0 presence in the lighting control market and deals almost 100% with electrical contractors, a bit funny.

How about moving these jobs to a lighting control company that is well established here like Lutron or AMX?

To clarify, I'm just disagreeing, not blasting you for posting, and maybe if they parent company is really dedicated to this market it's not as dangerous as it sounds.

i dont think square d had any relation with elan. we were a square d dealer in the 50's. they got purchased by group sneider a while back - 15 years or more.

Clipsal is well known over seas and like you QQQ, i would sell it.

QQQ,

Clearly you are entitled to your opinion and if you're interested I'd be happy to have a phone conversation with you to share our substantial, recent and increasing investments in the North American lighting/home control industry.

To anyone else reading these posts:

Take a look at the web sites I listed and make up your own mind how committed we are to the lighting control industry. If you're still interested, I'll be happy to speak with you about how we can be a valuable solution to the issues you may be facing due to the untimely demise of Colorado V Net.

Best Regards,
