Just received the CEDIA 2007 Booklet in the mail today and noticed on page 57 under the Manufacturer Training Programs , two entries for some new Prontos , the TSU9200 and TSU9400 . The small paragraph only states this...

"Geared towards Installers with no or little Pronto experience , this training will introduce the new Pronto baby sister , the TSU9200 . The easy , affordable , programmable hard button remote with advanced content control functionality is what you've been screaming for . In this training you will learn what the TSU9200 can do for you and your Customer ...."

"...You will discover how the TSU9200 and TSU9400 complete the range and make Pronto the control system for every type of Installation..."

No other details or pictures in this booklet . Thought everyone might be interested in this news .

Sorry , couldn't find a thing . Just like the TSU9600 when it came out , we'll have to wait a while I guess .

If you Google "Philips Pronto TSU9200" you'll get the CEDIA Brochure that I have , on-line .

Keep searching !

pronto TSU9200: Welcome to Simplicity Redefined

Geared towards installers with no or little Pronto experience, this training will introduce the new Pronto baby sister, the TSU9200. The easy, affordable, programmable hard button remote with advanced content control functionality is what you’ve been screaming for. In this training, you will learn what the TSU9200 can do for you and your customer. When finished, you will be ready to program your first unit.

and
pronto programming

Geared towards installers who wish to obtain advanced programming skills, this course will continue training on the TSU9600 and TSU9400. A solid introduction to combine one-way IR/RS-232 control with advanced two-way IP and RS-232 control modules, this course is designed to help you attain the desired level of expertise to install Pronto in the majority of your jobs with confidence.

my guess is the 9200 is a much simpler remote is it HB only or HB+LCD labels? (a bit like most Harmony or HTM MX-700). Also I would guess IR only (if it is IR and wi-fi I would guess it would have the same wi-fi features (i.e. would be included in the second course)

looks like the 9400 and 9600 have he same control features (something the 9200 does not). so what can the difference be? my guess it is either form factor (maybe the same as the Pronto Pro?) or maybe screen (not colour?)

With regard to Black and White. I should hope it would NOT have a B&W display. Are there any cell phones (that have any market appeal) made that are still B&W displays?

don't know about cell phones, but the 3000 has some appeal and it could be a cheaper device

I am guessing 9200 (simplest-cheapest), 9400 (middle), 9600 (best-most expensive)
There were 4 Pronto courses (just realized there was no link to the brochure [Link: cedia.net] -page 57)

The two mentioned above, the pronto advanced 2-Way programming and the pronto Essentials the advanced does not say what models (guessing 600 and 400) the essentials is for all 3 and is a basic course.

If it is not capabilities that differentiate the 400 and 600 (i.e. from the looks of the previous one, the control capabilities look the same) . all that is left is look and fill. I am guessing it could be a bit less featured (less memory…) but that should not change the price much and would not really fill a different need.

Like I said I can think of two areas that could make two similar remotes a good idea

1- screen – BW make a cheaper version for someone that does not have the $ but wants the capabilities
2- form factor/packaging – this could be for taste – for example one made for in wall integration, one that is shaped like the 7000…

I think you're overlooking one potential difference: Distribution channel. Perhaps the 9400 is a consumer version that utilized the technology of the "custom install only" 9600. I hope so, because the absence of XCF file and activity on this forum show the 9600 much less popular than previous models with high end-user / enthusiast consumption.

Don't know what you mean. If the 9400=9600 with the only difference that it is easier to find on line, how does it change anything. but I would guess by the naming 9X00 and the following text that they are all CI remotes.

Geared towards installers with little or basic Pronto experience, this training

will introduce the new members of the Pronto lineup that compliment last
year’s award-winning TSU9600. You will discover how the TSU9200 and
TSU9400 complete the range and make Pronto the control system for every
type of installation.
After this training, you will know all the ins and outs of the
lineup and which one to pick for the job.

My guesses - based purely on the model numbers - and I DO NOT have any inside information.

The TSU9600 supports the RFX9600 (and the RFX 9400).

So I guess that the TSU9400 only supports the RFX9400.

The 9200 is harder to guess. Maybe, based on the above description, it does not have a touch screen, but still has a display.

Interesting guess. Too bad I was hoping someone here would have been testing with them (i.e. you or Lyndel)

intersting guess on the numbering. The only thing I see is that there are 4 courses at CEDIA (link in previous post, data on page 57)

- 9200
- Pronto essentials (intro and basic programming for all three models)
- Pronto programing (for 9400 9600 covers IR/RS-232 and IP 1 way and 2-way)
- Pronto advanced 2-way programming (no model number but covers something called Prontoscript)

according to the third course for 9400 and 9600
A solid introduction to combine one-way IR/RS-232 control with advanced two-way IP and RS-232 control modules

to me it looks like RS-232 and 2-way apply to both remotes

The last I heard the TSU9200 was supposed to be available in the U.S. in November 2007. Since November is almost gone, has anyone heard any updates on when the TSU9200 will be available for retail purchase?
