Take a look at the "TouchControl" iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app, and the free PC companion software. Allows you to create completely custom remote interfaces on the iPhone using your own designs/graphics/buttons/backgrounds, etc. Also provides direct integration with USB-UIRT and ability to execute commands, run programs, and control your PC from your iPhone/iPad/iPod. If you are an IRCommand2 user, you can drive IRCommand2 devices and buttons from your iPhone using a fully customized/personalized interface, opening it up to other IR dongles, X10, etc. If you're a Windows Media Center user, control it all from a remote that looks just like the physical MCE remotes - but on your iPad! Great for you HTPC-ers. App Store: [Link: itunes.apple.com] Web Site (PC Software and support): http://www.touchapptech.com

What does it cost? Isn't this similar to the 'Re' from Newkinetix?

The cost is available in the app store (link above). This is not like NewKinetix. TouchControl provides access to network (PC) based IR hardware, and also allows you to execute commands, scripts, executables, etc. on your PC, AND control the mouse and keyboard - all remotely with no line-of sight necessary. It does not (yet) provide access to iPhone-attached IR accessories. One of TouchControl's best features is allowing you to create completely custom remote screens via the PC software. Both apps have their uses, no question. TouchControl is probably most useful for the HTPC user, but anyone who needs remote IR & PC control capabilities, and wants to have lots of fun creating your own personal remote screens for your iPhone, take a look at TouchControl.

There have been lots of changes to TouchControl since the OP, and it now has native support for Global Cache' adapters, EventGhost, AutoHotKey, HTTP servers (like J.River Media Center), direct TPC/UDP control for network attached devices like Denon receivers, Keene IR Anywhere, iRTrans, etc., access via 3G from internet, embedded Web views, full macro support, etc. Even supports custom scripting with Javascript, and more updates on the way. Under active development. Should take another look...
