Did the original owner get a copy of the software from the "Authorized dealer" he bought it from? If so ask him to pass it on too you. If not the only thing you can really do is maybe call a couple of authorized dealers and hope one feels sorry for you and gives you a copy, but thats probably not likely.

there are a lot of sole proprietor AD's you can look up in any major city by simply typing in "home theater" in google, and a list of people who are AD's of URC will show up. start dialing them one by one and im sure you will catch one who wouldnt mind passing along the love.

and if you need help getting your remote setup, pm me any questions you have. i would love to help out.

I don't know if I would equate the word "good" to someone who gives you a copy of software that is not only proprietary, but is under policy by the manufacturer to do EXACTLY not that. Not to mention the fact that he is diluting the product and losing revenue for URC, other shops (like myself) and other shops around the country. The software restrictions were not put in place because people are not "good". This is a product line that is supposed to be sold and maintained by custom installers. But you guys will probably see the real effect if something goes wrong with your remote or there is a new policy set forth with licenses on the software, OR when you go to sell that remote you purchased for $$$$$ sell for $$.

So again, I doubt the word "good people" fits the description here. You can just add his name to the list of the many people in this country who just take what they want without regard for policy, copyright, or ownership - morality aside. You see, your "good person" signed a contract that he would not do hat he has done with you and probably others. I only hope that you and whomever is providing this software illegally suffers in a business that relies on patents and contract policy to protect your products and services.

Ah yes, lets sue them! The answer to all your troubles. The 6000 is part of the "professional" series designed for...........professionals. Maybe you should have looked into that before making the purchase.

Look... heres the deal, there are many many authorized dealers out there who will provide you with the software, and it is well within URC's policy for any AD to provide you, the enduser, with the software. All this craziness to the side, the only thing you need to do is contact the right dealer... Ive made 3 really good friends this way and even bought my MRX-1 from one of them. IGNORE ALL THESE unnecessary comments telling you this and that which isnt helping you get your software. IGNORE THEM, really... and go get your software. There are some really good class act dealers out there that really actually love wanting to help the consumer or professional and aren't always hungry to get every cent they can bleed out of you. Do as I said before and contact the sole proprietors... they are more likely to give you an awesome amount of "love" at the least cost to you. Thats my experience.... all BS aside.

Go to Google Maps
Type in "Home Theater"
Contact every marker that shows up.
Most of them are URC AD's and are sole proprietors
There are a few of them that will talk to you and work something out with you.
Call them up, you will see. Some are more friendly and helpful than others, but in the end, you get what you need from them.

Once you get your software, PM me, ill send you my CCP file and help you program your remote.

And for what it's worth, that's really what this is all about. URC wants our dealers to be the face of our products, not Ebay or Craigslist. URC dealers are the source of URC products, so we defend them in that respect.

Best regards,
Dale

URC is not exactly alone in their policy. RTI, Crestron, Control4, Pronto, Savant, can all cancel you as a dealer if you give out their software. The dealer has no right to distribute the software because it does not belong to the dealer, it belongs to the manufacturer, the license for the software is strictly for the dealer to USE it, they have no other rights to the software.

There are those who understand binary,
and those who don't!
