I found a very good deal for a new S70 and extender on
eBay. The guy has good ratings and emailed me that the
purchase would be "legitimate" so that I would be covered
by the warranty and be eligible for tech support and updates.
Why should I believe that?....Otherwise the closest official
dealer is several states away from me. I'm sure the official
dealer price is going to be a lot more too....What to
do? Advice? thanks.

These are your only options. The first one is your best shot at service and warranty.

#1.Hire someone local for the complete install & programming.
#2.Find someone local to sell you the remote at retail so they will honor the warranty.
#3.Find a legitimate Nevo dealer that is not local but willing to sell you a Nevo remote and honor the warranty.
#4.Buy it from the guy on ebay and assume your not going to hear from them again
#5.Buy something else.
