It sounds like you're a bit light on RAM. This software has numerous memory leaks. In your case, it sounds like the RAM is filling up, then appears slow as Windows starts swapping to virtual memory. Try to run this software alone, no other apps. The biggest "leak" I've found is opening galleries. Clicking through a dozen gallery pages is an invitation to disaster!
