I think its very possible the cable box problem could be the same as the Elite code set. My Pronto would not learn from the factory Pioneer remote, but would learn all but the widescreen button from my RC-2000. Pioneer has since changed this code set to a more universal one. New Elite owners should not have as many problem as those prior to the 98-99 model year.

I think many of these code problems will be worked out as time goes on. Don't forget to try alternate universal remotes to teach the Pronto when a factory remote fails.
