I live in Pa also and my husband just got ripped off by two guys in a white van claiming to be from Philly they gave him speakers and showed them to him in a magazine that claimed they sold for $3100. My husband traded them my $900 laptop I just bought 4 days ago. I want to get these guys good I don't know how. I bought that laptop with my school grant money. The speakers only sell on ebay for about $249.00. If anyone can help me please reply. Thank you

Because it's all so sad.

There's an old adage that states that if something looks too good to be true, it usually is. As such I (personally) find it a little exasperating that seemingly intelligent people cannot apply such a simple rule.

I also got approached by two guys in a white van in the Pittsburgh, Pa area, selling theater logic surround sound systems. They were well trained showed me the magazine threw me the whole 9 yards. Stated these speakers are worth $ 2,200.00 we need $800.00, I told them I had $160.00 cash and if that bought me a system I’ll take it, if not good luck unloading them. They sold me the L6 system got it home, like everyone else felt like I really f-d up. I tried to hook it up through my TV, it sounded like crap.
I figured I should go buy a receiver and try and run it through the receiver.
I went out and bought an Onkyo TX SR303 model with 5.1 output for $150.00 at Circut City.

It sounds fantastic, better than my last Kenwood and my current Pioneer system. If you go and buy a decent receiver I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the quality. I would buy another one for $ 140.00 in a second. I feel I got a steal.

WHAT??

Maybe I'm just smarter than the average folk... but who in their right mind would buy ANYTHING from someone out of a van, in a parking lot?

I wouldn't buy a 50 cent paperweight from someone who approaches me in a parking lot.........

This must be the same GREED that makes prospective clients take my advice on system design and either:

Goes to Best Buy and buys everything......proceeds to "Hook it up" themselves...and then call me to come "take a quick look and tell me what I did wrong"

Buys it all off the internet and proceeds to "Hook it up" themselves........

Personally... and I don't mean to offend anyone....'tis just my opinion.......... you got screwed....you deserve it. Live with it. I accept responsibility when I screw up.. I live, learn and make it right.

Hey I worked 1 day with these guys and they didnt tell me what the work was until my fist day. I went with them and they made a fake invoice. Had a magazine for the surround sound and tower power speakers. They used the same story that they got an extra system from the loading docks. We tried selling both as a combo for 1,000 $. I wasnt sure what i was in for. We worked Boston. We went to car washes, shopping plazas, gas stations, dunkin donuts, and all the fast food places. He even stops people in the street. I got home and looked up theatre logic and found this. I was thinking what kind of people actually carry a grand in there pocket in boston or even the money they were asking 4 which was between $300-1000. The reason why they ask men and not woman is because they men are more interested in home entertainment system. They also dont ask men that are with woman because they "blow the deal". So if your with a woman your safe. I quit after my first day. If you from Boston and want to get back at them. Then e-mail me with your what happened to you. If you email me I will give you there fake company name, address, and city/state. Ask me anything and I will tell you. This only applies to Massachusett's victims.

This just happened to me. Same story about extra unit and on way to install. I am such a greedy idiot at times. I always felt I could see this coming and yet my greed got the better of me. I actually felt bad after I purchased the L8ti, because their story told me that they were trying to steal from their boss. So it told me that my greed in that moment was stronger than my sense of right and wrong. I brought the speakers home and took them out of the box, and started to feel bad because I knew/ thought I had just purchased stolen property. There is no way to justify it. Just that I am who I am and I did what I did. I thought about giving them away to charity or someone who needed them and taking the financial loss as a lesson about who I am and that I will be stronger and resist the urge to be a part of theft in the future. I was actually relieved when I found out that it was a scam. I have realized that I would rather be scammed than to be a thief. I learned something valuable about myself. In that moment I let my greed outweigh my sense of right and wrong. Which is what a thief is when you think about it. I was a thief, just like them. I have decided I will do my best never to be a thief ever again. I hope you realize what I just realized.
