Robman, if you are still reading this... I just tried programming my remote to pick up my Sony stereo... none of the Sony codes worked with my AUX... if you have any idea since you were so much help for my TV, I'd appreciate it

the 0463 code did not work, but I retried the
learn feature and it did work after about 25 times
going up, thanks, I must have screwed up doing
it before, my bad

This remote doesn't have learning, so I assume you mean that you did a code search (using the 990 command) and found the code that way. If my assumption is correct, could you please now do a blink back (using the 991 command) and tell us what the correct code is so we can recommend it to other people with this set.

You probably need to switch your Sony from AV2 mode to AV1 mode, then you should be able to use the audio/0158 code.

I did a code search then, but my remote does not actually tell me what the code is. I would deprogram the code and reprogram it... and figure out how many times I had to press up, but I don't want to jinx anything and possibly screwing up how I have my remote programmed. The Sony thread did not address how to program for my particular stereo. I don't think I am really going to care as much about that since I don't usually use it by remote anyhow. People with my motorola remote just need to know really that it does work eventually with code search; you just have to keep going for a while.

The code search (ie, 991) function doesn't tell you what the code numer is, but the blink back (ie, 990) function does. It looks like another direct quote from the user manual is needed...

CHECKING THE CODES
If you have set up the DRC450 using the Searching For Your Code procedure, you may need to find out which four-digit code is operating your equipment. Perform the following procedure after you have set up your devices to find out which four-digit code is operating your equipment.

For example, to find out which code is operating your TV:

  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. On the DRC450, press and hold TV (at least 6 seconds) until you see the mode light sequence start. Each of the mode key lights will turn off and on sequentially, starting with AUDIO on through TV, and will repeat twice. During the sequence, release the TV key and wait until it stays lit continually.
  3. Press 9 - 9 - 0.The TV key will blink three times.
  4. To view the code for the first digit,
press and release 1.Count the number of TV key blinks (e.g., 3 blinks = 3) and write down the number in the leftmost TV code box in step 6 of Programming Device Control.
NOTE: The mode key will not blink if the code digit is a “0”.
  5. Repeat step 4 three more times for each successive digit by pressing and releasing 2, 3, and then 4. Finish writing down the TV code in the remaining TV code boxes.
  6. To check for the codes of your other devices, repeat steps 1 through 5, only substitute the appropriate mode key (i.e., VCR/DVD, CABLE, or AUDIO) for the device you are checking.Write down the codes in the appropriate device code boxes (see step 6 of Programming Device Control).

This may or may not help:

They give some clues as to what TV brand to try for universal remotes, and the codes for a Best Buy brand of remote. Many TVs are listed as "unknown".

For my 42" LCD, I found a Mitsubishi code that will allow my universal cable remote to operate the TV. Of course, for all of the fancy functions I still need their remote.

If your cable remote just happens to be a UEI remote (is it one of the remotes shown here: http://www.urcsupport.com ?), you might be able to program the fancy functions using advanced codes.

If its the white DTV remote, give codes 10463, 10150, or 10054 a try.

No, no one has a code for the insignia tv remote to control the insiginia tv itself. Usually a TV remotes do not lose its programming. I say the remote is fine, and the TV is broken.

I just succeeded with a Memorex code (0463 on my Atlas universal remote) for an Insignia NS30-HTV. ... I flipped through a few hundred before my finger got tired and I came to this site. It was rather frustrating.
