Thanks for the reply. I have sent you an email. After reading your reply I am thinking this maybe a good time to upgrade my DVD Jukebox. I don't play many music CD's at home so I am thinking that the 985 is what I would need. Is that correct? Are there other DVD Jukeboxes that I should consider?

985 is a better bet. However it does not have RS232 control like 777ES but you should not need that. In fact, LowPro on the NG forum has 4 985's. However, beware that the new HDMI 995 does not support the Resume Feature (stop in middle of a movie and play resumes from that point). On the 995, the DVD is automatically auto-played from the start.

As a result, my recommendation would be a 777 or a 985 (777 is the ES version of the 985).

I've been getting some help request via email so I am bumping this to the top to make it easy for others to find.

Lyndel,

After about a year of playing around with an MX-3000, and its DMX-3000 software, I have come to realise that as far as using CDs in disc changers there is no substitute for SNL! So I have decided I will be using to (not quite) universal remote controls; the MX for my movie needs and my trusted old Marantz RC 9200 for my music needs. Since I have changed my PC since I was last here I downloaded all the software again, and I noticed that things had happened in the SNL world :-)

Is there an updated manual explaining what has changed since my latest version (2.0.0.4)?

It's good to be back!

Christopher,

Welcome back and...

WAKE UP!!!!

If you download the software, you get a Release Notes document included that has all the gory details about the changes.

P.S. How was the DMX-3000 software?

I've also been playing with LowPro's DVD Lobby PCF on my 7000 and can get 9 movies per screen. A more artistic layout will still allow me 6 movies per screen.

Oops, that's what the read me file was for...? OK, I guess it's time to start studying!

DMX-3000 is brilliant software, but it doesn't (yet?) work for CDs. So for those of us serious about our music SNL is still the way to go.

Hi Lyndel,

I also cannot make sense of the readme with regard to the TSU7000 migration. I am manually hooking up the list in my .pcf but I am not utilising the MigrationPCF at all an I don't like missing out on something!

Can you please send me the detailed instructions. I'll send you my email.

Great work on SNL. I'm looking forward to using it when I finish my XBMC script to have XBMC act as a Jukebox.

Brad.

Where do I find those files?

Hi Henrik,

Did you get the files from Bruce Hartley? I tried to e-mail him but I didn't get any answer.
If you have the files is it possible to get a copy?

Regards

I'm trying to grasp the proper way to use the migration bridge (for my TSU3000). For testing and discussion, I'm just dealing with my CD player and a link/jump to the transport page.

I added the migration bridge device to my hooks file. I kept both the SNLCDs page and the PCFCDs page in the hooks ccf file. I then edited down another copy of the migration bridge device (renamed to Migration PCF) so that it only has the PCFCDs page and merged that into my main pcf file. I then added a jump from the 2transp-1 button in the PCFCDs page of the migration pcf device to my CD players transport page.

I run SNL and get a good ccf output file with good lists and a good transport link into the SNLCDs page. I use PENG to turn the SNL output into a pcf. I then merge that with my main pcf. This gives me a pcf file with a Migration Bridge device and a Migration PCF device. The Migration Bridge device has both the SNLCDs page and the PCFCDs page.

At this point if I understand correctly, I want to copy any action lists from the buttons in my Migration PCF - PCFCDs page to the corresponding buttons in my Migration Bridge -PCFCDs page. This is where I get stuck. I can open the 2 pages side by side, but I can't find a way to copy an action or action list from one page or button to another. The readme.txt for the migration bridge says to "Shift-Drag to copy Action Lists as appropriate between buttons." What is the secret to copying the action lists? Is this a function that is no longer available in PENG? I downloaded PPENG just to see if maybe it was exclusive to the pro version, but it doesn't appear to be able to copy action lists either. Are you guys doing this in another program?

So, either I have misunderstood something in the directions and one of my earlier steps is wrong, or I'm missing something. I could alias/link the buttons in the Migration Bridge - PCFCDs to the same buttons in the Migration PCF -PCFCDs page, but if that is the only solution, I might as well eliminate the middleman and link directly from the SNLCDs page.

What have I missed?
Thanks!
ross

rcmcneil, thanks for the detailed explanation. You are almost there. What you are missing is the Alt-Shift-Drag to 'Link' buttons. At the time I wrote the Readme.txt file for migration, the Alt-Shift-Drag was not available. Only Alt-Drag would copy actions. Shift-Drag copies images. For a list of keyboard shortcuts. Press F1 while in PENG or PPENG and search for keyboard shortcuts.

Let's say you have a CD list with 3 CD changers. To accomplish the hookup....

You Alt-Shift-Drag from Migration Bridge->PCF CDs->Links2List to Migration Hooks->PCF CDs->Links 2 list. This hooks up your jumps to the jumps merged into your PCF from the SNL Import.

Then, to hook up your Player Jumps from SNL you must:

Alt-Shift-Drag from Migration Hooks->PCF CDs->2Transp-1 to Migration Bridge->PCF CDs->2Transp-1. Repeat this for 2 & 3 as well if you have more than one changer

Alt-Shift-Drag from Migration Hooks->PCF CDs->2Transp-2 to Migration Bridge->PCF CDs->2Transp-2.

Alt-Shift-Drag from Migration Hooks->PCF CDs->2Transp-3 to Migration Bridge->PCF CDs->2Transp-3.

What you are effectively doing here is providing a place in your PCF such that when you want to view the list, you can jump to the list. Next, you are providing a jump such that after a disc is selected, you can jump to the tranport page of the changer containing the disc.

All in all, I tried to make this as simple and modular as possible. If it were not easy, I would not do it myself. I use this mechanism "EVERY" time I build SNL output. I have a 5MB email with well documented instructions that I can email you if you still have questions. I put alot of effort into this whole migration mode simply because I needed SNL lists at the time and had no quick and dirty way of running SNL natively against a PCF.

If you are interested in the word document and my list setup with a tutorial as to how I do migration, please email me. As I put quite a bit of effort into this, donations are appreciated.

Lyndel,

Thanks! The keyboard shortcuts have eluded me. (Why the program won't let you copy action lists from the properties window escapes me.) Without the shortcuts, it has been frustrating just making simple button changes and such, let alone getting the SNL migration links finalized.

Don't worry, donations will be forthcoming once I get this all figured out and working properly. FWIW, a much larger donation would accompany a pcf based SNL product and a more complete setup and user guide. What would be really cool is if someone wanted to tackle a program that would incorporate SNL, pcf configuration/editing and button/graphics editing all in one package. ... A guy can dream can't he?

Thanks again,
Ross

The keyboard shortcuts I mention are for the latest ProntoProEdit NG. If you are using Wizz.it., I don't think the Alt-Shift-Drag is yet available.

I'd be interested in putting a DVD list back onto my remote.
I have no changer so it would be reference only with no actions.

Would be interested in 2.0.0.8 then.

It's been a long time since I've run SNL, so I'll have to refresh my memory and also find the jukebox graphics that I got from you many years ago !
