Smiley,

Maybe you could use some help. I don't mind helping you out a little since you've already tried to get this right. All I would need is your PCF, your input CCF, and both SN_Devices.xml and SN_Library.xml to test and give you some pointers.

Lyndel:

I use SNL all the time, with a 3000 (actually, several of them). It's one of the main reasons I bought my first 3000. I use my own migration stuff, and have gotten it so I only have to fix up three links after the merge. If I had my druthers I'd wish for a native NG version, but lacking that I'm doing fine. I doubt I will make use of the new features in 2.0.0.8 or later Pronto versions.

Thanks for all your efforts.

I used the jukebox graphics and SNL on my RC9200 (and before that 5000i), I had it controlling winamp through some girder and playlists.

Now I have a squeezebox though and haven't got round to setting something up to give me the same control.

Also I can't convince myself I need it, but it would be cool!!

I'll probably take a look at your release for old times sake and maybe it will convince me to have a go !!

I just found the program and started using it over the past month. I have a 3000 and have used SNL to create lists for a 400 disc player including an artist, album list; an album, track list and a genre, artist, album list. It's a great program and I would happily pay for a version that worked in a more native mode for the 3000. I would have preferred that each of my lists went down to the track level but the 3000 appears not to have sufficient memory. Thanks for all your effort Lyndel, it is much appreciated.

Bob,

I'm curious to know if you figured out how to set up Links To This List and Player Jumps based on the steps in the Migration README. I have gotten basically very little feedback as to the explanation and wondered if it was relatively easy to understand once you come up to speed on the program.

And as far as memory goes, if you can afford it, invest in the TSU7000 or an equivalent remote with more memory. If not, you can edit a Disc and check the box to ignore tracks for a particular disc such that you can have a List Level that includes Track Information but only shows Track data for discs for which Ignore Tracks is NOT selected.

Lyndel,

I was new to the world of Prontos so I had no history with previous Prontos, CCFs and their editors so it took awhile to realize I was adapting a previous generation CCF to a PCF environment. I created a 2 disc testcase and by reading the README, running SNL, looking at the inputs and outputs the light began to dawn. For my first pass, I never did get what the MigrationBridge device was all about so I ignored it (in fact I deleted it). I was focused on getting lists of CDs and tracks out of SNL and hooked up to the right player controls. The balance of Vol, channel and jumps were simple details left for a later time. The most understandbable part of the README for me was the initial section that described what we were trying to end up with. The most confusing was the part that mentioned editing the CCF in Tonto, since I had no prior experience with such a tool. Hope this helps.

Bob,

The only reason I mentioned Tonto is non-Marantz folks might not want to download Touch Screen Setup just to edit the CCF for the initial setup. As you probably now can see, you are ONLY editing the CCF when you add a list or change equipment. As a result, CCF edits are very, very infrequent.

Thanks for the feedback.

Lyndel,
Are you still about to release 2.0.0.8? I have been holding off doing some work on my SNL list until that comes out figuring I will have to make changes anyway. Should I wait, or just go with 2.0.0.7?

Go with 2.0.0.7. 2.0.0.8 is additive as other releases have been. You will not lose anything going forward. However, just as with other releases, if you go backward, you may lose some setting you've previously defined.

If you absolutely have to have 2.0.0.8. Email me and I can send a zip copy along.

I've been using SNL for a while now and find its a fantastic tool. I have a Pronto Pro RU980 and use SNL RC9200 -> TSU7000 output mode. I was wondering if there is any way to program Firm Keys 1 and 4 within the Edit List function. I assume these keys are not available on a RC9200, is there any clever way to get around this?

Many thanks

Andy

Andy,

Unfortunately, we are all out of luck. You see, the TSU6000 supports 4 hard buttons, MostLeft, Left, Right, and MostRight. Inside the CCF file structure for the 9200, Left and Right are the same but MostLeft and MostRight are used by Marantz for Menu and Exit (I believe these are the ones). As a result, Firm1 & Firm4 are not assigned during an import because they equate to CursorNav and SmartSurf (If I recall correctly).

Early on in the Philips 7000 Beta Test, I had requested custom Firm Button mapping such that I could move what was 'Left' to 'Firm1' and 'Right' to 'Firm4'. I never got an official response on the request but highly suspect that it would have been too much work.

Hi All,

I had a harddisk crash last week and lost ALL my Pront config. The worst part being having lost the list of CDs ( ~500 of them) . Since I was able to upload my current Pronto config to my PC i have an obvious question. Is there any way to recreate the SNL lists from the PCF files ? I know that the PCF files are just zipfiles w/ an XML config in them. And since the remote knows which CD is where and what tracks are on which CD , all the required data is available :).

The PITA is obviously finding a way to reconstruct this data so that SNL can read it. I'm familiar w/ XPATH etc, so I will have a stab at trying to write something myself , but just in case anyone has tried this before, succesfully or not, I'd love to hear from them.

cheers,
Edwin.

Hi,

I have been looking through this post for hours and trying to figure out the SNL migration but I am stuck and hope that you can help me work through it. I have been using SNL for years with the tsu2000 and it has worked flawlessly for me but I am now trying to use it with a tsu3000 and I am strugling with the migration. I have a CX860 and will be adding a second very soon. The first place that I am stuck based on the readme file is that I can't figure out how I would know if my player is in Command Mode 1, 2, etc. Also I see that I am to use Touch-Screen Edit or Tonto in the first step of the second process. I am not familiar with either of these programs. Is it possible to use Pronto Edit?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

If you are not the person who emailed me earlier today, please do so and I'll send you a 5MB zip file with step by step instructions on migration.

The DVP-CX860 only supports Command Mode 1. For other DVD Jukeboxes, there's a switch on the back (985/777ES and newer models only). So, just a heads up. If you are thinking about another CX860, think twice as you will need either an RF Extender or a Xantech IR router to allow 2 860's to exist side by side. For example, I have 3 777ES jukeboxes and an older 860. I've taken the 860 out of service but I recently purchased a new component video switcher that supports 4 inputs. However, for control, I will have to ensure that I use 2 distinct RF extenders because my 860 will conflict with one of my 777ES's (specifically, the 777ES with the switch set to Command Mode 1 on the back).
