1. 950
2. Yes, but more like the 850 in capability.
3. 850
4. See below.

It's in final beta test now, so, barring any unforseen complications, you should be seeing it in a few weeks.

Mike,

Thx alot. I love the design of the 950 & 900 over the other models. I loved everything about the MX-800 except I couldn't operate the backlight button. I was hoping the 900's backlight could be set to turn on at the press of a button (don't need motion sensor activation). I love my Harmony 676 but I'm afraid if for some reason I have to give up internet access I'm screwed for configuration. The 950 is too expensive for me but the side button backlight activation of the other models I can't operate. Finding the right remote for quadraplegics sux and the One4All's JP1 usage is frustrating remembering what code is assigned to which button aswell as changing device configs from old to new equipment. The Pronto TSU3000's perfomance sux compared to my old dead TS1000. Rant over. :)

Not any better than the current software for the other models does. Some people have been able to use Virtual PC, but I'm told it doesn't work that well.

Thanks. I also attempted to use Virtual PC and didn't have any luck. I guess I'll have to hang on to the old PC even longer.

Wheelie4,

Maybe the Universal Remote TX-1000 is what you need. See this link for a picture someone posted in another thread.

This is a touchscreen, unlike the hard buttons next to the LCD on the 850,900,950 etc. Not sure if the touchscreen would be helpful, but the light button is on the face of the remote, not the side. It is meant as a tabletop remote and handles button pushes well while sitting on a table (unlike 850s and similar remotes.)

The TX-1000 should be out shortly after the 900 I suppose. Not sure of the MSRP.

WOW! Thx Eric and Mike? The TX-1000 looks sharp and more user friendly for me. Price looks better too. I'd need to find as much details of it's design like the battery type it uses, it's dimensions. I have to prop my remotes up (depending on shape) vertical or horizontally on a stand. Looking at it's shape and dimensions I would probably need a new stand made.

Gotta question about the MX-950. I notice while it's on the charging base there's no support behing the top half of the remote. While it's on it's charging base (without holding the remote or charger) can you press the on/off buttons or any of the LCD buttons using a pencil eraser without it wanting to tip back or are the buttons too firm?

What's an "AEGINA"? Is it just me or does the name make you want to reach for a pack of ROLAIDS? (angina = heart burn... get it! har, har!)

Seriously though.. I am not terribly excited for this remote. Kinda ugly and I never liked the idea of a touchscreen that didn't have full-blown customization. Now if this was priced closer to the Sony or Sunwave remotes then it might be a winner. NOTE: I'm sure the programming capabilities will be signifantly greater then the Sony or Sunwave remotes but I am a vain person and just don't see how this would look cool on my coffee table.

Daryl- You won't be able to press the mx950 buttons while on the charger without knocking it over. sorry :-(

Thx for the info Jim. :)

BTW, sometime between yesterday afternoon and now URC added the MX-900's manual and editor download to their site.

The time is getting near

I've already downloaded the manual and software so when it does get here, I'll have it all figured out :-)

Aegina is a woman from Greek mythology that had a child of Zeus. It's also one of the Greek islands. It's getting hard to come up with names that haven't been used by others I guess. ;-)

I tend to agree that the TX-1000 will have limited appeal, but it might be just the thing for Daryl and others that need a tabletop-style remote. If I remember correctly, I believe it uses 4 AAA batteries like the other URC remotes.

The MX-900 may replace my MX-850 in the family room. While I prefer the two-column LCD display, the 900 has the best hard-labeled button layout of any of the URC remote IMO.

I totally agree with that. After trying the MX-800 for awhile last year, if it wasn't for my inability to press the side mounted backlight button, any of URC's remotes capable of controlling 11+ devices would work great for me. The AAA usage by the TX-1000 is good to know since I already use a Maha PowerFlex NiMH charger and batteries. :)

I got a beta of the MX-900, eveything seems to work well. I've been testing it the last two days. I would guess that unless something drastic happens, it should be shipping shortly.

I'm 99% sure that it is 4 AA.... sorry for the disapointment.
