Apparently the efunctional "regular" price virus is spreading. Avsmarts has the "regular" price of the MX-500 at $232.70. ;-)

I received my MX500 from www.rrdeals.com and they shipped it the same day as ordered and is the most recent firmware. They also don't seem to play the retail price game as I got it for $139
I woukd definately do biz again with them and have already referred them to a few of my friends.

Yes, but AVSmarts just added thousands and thousands of items to their inventory, and a brand new website. It's a wonder the prices even come up!!! ;-)

Yes, I noticed they're working on getting everything set back up again. It's quite a task with a site that big. It was just too funny a coincidence to pass up.

When building such a large website, it's hard not to have something be dysfuntional!!!

Read this thread and clicked over to vss-electronics.com. Found the MX-500 listed for $136.20 and opted to pay the premium for overnight shipping (about $27 bucks) so I would have it to program over the weekend. I ordered it at 2pm yesterday and had it in my mailbox by noon this morning! All in all I had it in less than 24 hours for just north of 160 bucks.

Just finished a delightful transaction with RRDEALS.com. I thought I'd let people know that in the appropriate place which I hope this is.

Try www.surfremotecontrol.com. $135 for the MX-500 with a 15 day return policy and well packed in a separate box. Also, their parent company, Surf Audio Video, is listed on HTM's website under "Where to Buy" in California. They also answered questions I had about the remote prior to my purchase. Highly recommended!

I just received my MX-1000 today in the post. It only took two weeks from ordering it! The reason it took sooo long is that I live in Tasmania Australia not the USA! I HIGHLY recommend [Link: shop.store.yahoo.com] for any one outside (and inside) the US of A. The cost of the remote was $199US and it only cost me $20US to get it sent out via Global Priority! Plus they answered all of my questions and changed their secure site to allow International orders. It took a lot of emails to find an a retailer willing to ship internationally, but these guys went out of their way to help me. So here I am givin' them a shameless free plug! Thanks guys!

I received my MX-500 yesterday from www.rrdeals.com and am quite pleased. I placed my order at midnight, August 1st, received confirmation the next morning. A UPS tracking number was obtained several hours later. The remote was received on August 8th, double boxed and in excellent condition. Since I live in Canada, a week for delivery is not bad, especially over the long weekend. Pricing is very competative, and would definetly deal there again.

I ordered my MX-500 from RRDeals for $132.95. I was very familiar with the problems they had with previous transactions with some people on this forum. I was also not crazy about their advertising practices here. But I watched, and waited, and it seemed as if they were making a conserted effort to make changes and resolve any and all upsets. I am a small business owner myself and I am all too familiar with the problems inherrent to getting started. I also know that word of mouth and referral business is the key to survival (especially in my field). Therefore, I decided to give RRDeals a chance to prove the naysayers wrong and earn a referral from me.

Well, I am happy to say that they handled the transaction flawlessly.

  • I ordered my remote on 7/18/01 at 10:37 a.m.
  • At 11:03 a.m. I recieved my first email from RRDeals confirming my order and letting me know that the remote would ship that day.
  • At 3:11 p.m. I recieved a second email thanking me for my order and confirming that I was getting the "latest and greatest" version.
  • At 5:54 p.m. I recieved an email from UPS with my tracking number.
  • At 6:20 p.m. 7/24/01 came the "knock, knock" at my door and my remote arrived double boxed and in perfect condition.

So to all that are considering purchasing this wonderfull remote: I can, without hesitation, highly recommend using RRDeals. I'd like to thank Rick and Randy for responding to the requests of their customers, and the members of this forum, for working to resolve the upsets of the past and I wish them the best of luck in the future.

Again, this might be the best place to put our buying recommendations, concerns, etc. instead of filling up the forum with "I just got my remote from "www.so&so.com" threads.

Looking to buy an MX-500 or MX-1000? Do some homework first by reading this thread, then checking the site sponsors, and then using shopping 'bots to see comparative prices. I will list a few of my favorite 'bots at the end of this post. Remember to analyze shipping costs and whether sales tax is added to get your delivered price. Good luck!

just bought my second MX500 at rrdeals for $125! I first bought from them about a month ago heres what I wrote then sorry if it was in the wrong place before

Chalk up one more for me; a very satisfied MX500 owner. I bought it from rrdeals about 2 weeks ago, and have had fun over the last week making this the perfect remote! Its fun to adjust the lcd names Ive never done that before with a remote (Ive never had an lcd screen before!] but this is definately the best out there for the money. I've printed a few copies of the speadsheet and that was really helpful in the design stages! My last remote, a panasonic tower universal remote that came with my big screen, is nothing compared to this. Ive picked up a few tricks and shortcuts on programming the remote, its really easy to use and anyone considering a universal remote should just buy it already, i mean how many negative things have been said about the MX500?
