In reply to GregoriusM's question on 10/25/01 02:24.34 "Due to the recent rash of kudos to rrdeals.com, do I assume correctly that they are asking their buyers to comment here on RC again in their emails?"
Neither Randy nor any other representative of RRDeals requested my endorsement. This was my first experience with the vendor and I am unaware of their past history. I selected them based primarily upon the recommendations I saw while reading several User Reviews on this site.
I guess I'm missing something here. The description for this thread (posted by...GregoriusM?) reads "A new, clean thread for posting 'Where to buy online' and experiences with the online buying process." Another message from 06/13 (also posted by GregoriusM) requests in part, "If you're happy with the way RR has dealt with you, let us know."
I recommend
www.RRDeals.com as "where to buy online."
I had a perfect "experience with the online buying process," especially as I required pre-purchase support from the vendor.
I am very "happy with the way RR has dealt with me," so I am "letting you know."
Is this the wrong area to post this information? Did you not specifically request above to be informed if I was happy with the way RR dealt with me?
Oh, by the way: Assuming we agree with Webster's dictionary that "kudos" means "Acclaim resulting from notable achievement"... I just reviewed this thread. Excluding my own posting, I found a total of six references of any kind to RRDeals since Adjuster's very favorable posting on August 9th.
1) DVDLUVR on 08/30/01 12:06.09: "just bought my second MX500 at rrdeals for $125!" No other reference to the transaction or the vendor.
2) SinMan on 08/30/01 12:42.27: "I just bought one from
www.RRDeals.com/ they have them on for 124.95!!!" No other reference to transaction or vendor.
3) Tom Straub on 10/17/01 10:14.33: "I have just ordered my MX-500 from RRdeals. I have had good luck in all of my on-line ordering in the past (I built this PC from parts ordered on-line) and hope it continues." No other reference to transaction or vendor.
4) Mitch Feig on 10/17/01 12:23.03: After detailing his difficulties with another vendor, Mitch wrote: "Later that morning, I ordered a new one from RRDeals. I received a tracking number later in the day, and the remote arrived today. It does have the latest firmware and I'm very happy." Okay, it contains the word "happy," although I'm not sure whether Mitch is happy with RRDeals, or just happy to have a working MX-500. But let's count it anyway.
5) Tom Straub on 10/18/01 01:39.46: "Just outta what has happened in the past. I would like it if you could keep me informed of your dealings with RRdeals."
6) RRDeals.com on 10/18/01 13:14.20: The company representative stated that they have the MX-500 in stock and mentioned shipping options and probable delivery dates.
The only "kudos" I see for RRDeals over the past two months (actually 77 days) are mine and Mitch Feig's of eight days earlier! How are you defining "rash?" Or, for that matter, "recent?"

As an American stationed overseas, I make purchases online practically every week from many, many U.S. vendors, and have been doing so since 1997. It has long been my habit to compliment the good ones and publicize the bad ones, especially in a forum devoted to that purpose.
My recommendation on "where to buy online" and my "experience with the online buying process" stand:
www.RRDeals.com offered the MX-500 at a competetive price. I received a prompt and courteous reply to my pre-purchase inquiries. The actual purchase transaction was processed smoothly and painlessly. My control arrived much more quickly than I had expected, in pristine condition.
My purchasing experience with RRDeals couldn't have been improved upon, and based on that experience I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wishes to buy an MX-500.

Bruce Burson
