I've emailed the chief engineer on the USB issue.
I will post when I get a reply from him.

After spending more time with the software, another welcome addition is the choice (On or Off) to have the touchscreen "wake up" when you pick it up and/or when you touch the screen or push a button, as well as the usual "backlight on" time and screen brightness. You can also set the LCD screen to turn off after a specified time (1 to 5 minutes) when not used, separately depending whether it's on or off the recharging cradle.

nice options, I know I have seen complaints in the past by people that wanted things on or off, when the programmers picked the other option

With 32 Meg of memory, Daniel will need a new server so we can exchange MX-3000 files!

With a typical ratio of 1/3 system and 2/3 configuration, we can assume 22 Meg for configuration.

It's a guess of course.

Using the default button graphics and the IR database for a Tivo resulted in a file size of 112K, so that leaves a lot of room for custom graphics and quite a few devices.

We'll be sure to let you know when the software is available for download from www.universalremote.com

But it wouldn't hurt for you to check there every day or two, just in case.

It's very close - I wouldn't advise literally holding your breath just yet, but, you by all means let the frantic anxiety begin ;)

There are currently some revisions being made to the software, presumably to have it ready for Eric's training class next week. We'll see what happens after that.

Looks like the MX-3000 will have some competition in the $1000 price range with the release of the new Pronto Pro TSU-7000 (see Daniel's sneak preview here. I'd have to say though, that if the 7000's software is similar to PENG (which it appears to be based on), the MX-3000 will win the "easier-to-use software" award.

I am an old Pronto/Marantz RC fan, but what I have seen in this forum/post is making me think again!

Is there anywhere else one can read more about it?

I used to have an big old button remote which was marketed as "the remote of the gods". Is this made by the same people?

I believe you're thinking of the old Marantz RC2000 MkII. It wasn't made by Universal Remote. We'll have more information for you on the 3000 from CEDIA over the next few days.

Does anyone have an idea when HTM will post a picture of the MX3000? I would love to see what it looks like. I read the press release and I'm curious to see it.

Is there a beta version of the MX3000 editor software available to average people like us?
