Wow! It really looks nice. I can see that I better start saving my $$ now. Depending on the touch screen feel and response, I think that I will probably get it.

CEDIA attendees: Any hints as to whether they will produce a B&W version (or better yet, a color version at at B&W price ;-)?

Another question: When you drop a $1000 remote, do you end up with the same thing as when you drop a $400 remote?

Barry,

This is the only touchscreen device in the pipeline right now, I don't think there'd be much of a market for a high-end touchscreen panel remote in black and white, IMO that's like putting 13" tires on a Ferrari :)

This is really aimed at the high end home theater owner, as are most of the touchscreen panel remotes out there. The MX-3000 is really amazing, though. I thought at first that having to handle such large remotes would be a chore, but the abilities of these remotes is astounding. The cool factor is through the roof... there are features on here that I never thought we'd see on a remote!

Does anyone have an idea when HTM will post a
picture of the MX3000? I would love to see what
it looks like. I read the press release and I'm
curious to see it.

Is there a beta version of the MX3000 editor software
available to average people like us?

No beta version available. You won't be getting a "beta" version. You'll be able to download the final version a week or two before the product ships.

The MX-3000 is not a large remote at all. Many who came by the booth said that the pictures they've seen on Remote Central and elsewhere made them think it would be larger than it really is. They quite liked the size and ergonomics of it.

Am I correct in understanding that the MX-3000's basestation only has the ability to control devices via IR, not RS-232?

You are correct. Look for something along those lines second quarter next year i.e. 232 control.

Yea, right. So the Philips 1000/2000/3000 remotes are what? Clearly there's a market there. I wasn't asking about a $39.95 remote. There's a wide range between that and $1000.

I previously wondered how the quickness and feel of the response was on the touchscreen. Has anyone had the chance to check this out? I opted to go with the MX700 instead of the Philips TSU3000 because of the slow and lack of feel to the TSU3000 touchscreen. Is this any better and quicker?

Take a look at Daniel's video from cedia. The TSU7000 looks pretty impresive on page changes

Both the MX-3000 and TSU7000 have very quick screen changes. No comparison to a TSU3000 IMO.

Probably not until the latter half of October.

Keep an eye on the HTM website.

If I find out before you, I'll let you know. It is still really in alpha, almost beta stage. There are a couple of features that aren't even working yet.

But, it's worth waiting for, I'd say.

Does anyone know if the same MF-200 base station will receive commands from both an MX-800 in one room and an MX-3000 in another room? ie - is the same base station utilized for both remotes?

Also - any late word on introduction date and availability of the MX-3000?
