Greg I am sure it will be a cool product. And the info so far is definetly impressive.

Variables are good, and should help. But until all manufacturers have discrete codes nothing is fool proof. (I have proven that with the harmony :-) )

as for us having a bit of fun on the launch date. Past experience has shown HTM doesn't meet them. With the 500 most people almost gave up that it will ever come out. So telling people not to hold theire breath for the day the remote will come out isn't that bad

In all fairness, the products released since the MX-500 (MX-700, 800) have been on schedule, especially when compared to many other consumer electronics manufacturers.

Regarding the MX-3000, I also like the option to save individual commands from a device in the IR database, as well as the entire device.

Hi,

Anybody knows if this baby will take RC5 commands directly in the PC software ala ProntoEdit. This has so far prevented me from getting a HTM remote as they don't offer this facility.
Thanks

It doesn't have this feature, however, it can take the codes directly from a ccf file, so you could always put the command into pronto edit and then move it over with the universal browser.

Dan, the Pronto has a DB for RC5, it does not save it as a regular IR code. So I don't know if the MXeditor can translate them.

Oh right, sorry. Anthony is right. If it is in the Pronto DB to begin with, then it cannot be moved over. Only the add-ins can be moved over.

It works the same as the MX-700/800 Universal Browser, except that it can copy the graphic as well.

As I mention in another post, I didn't say anything was "bad". I was merely providing a better overview of HTM's release dates and product shipments.

As far as the MX-500 was concerned, HTM would have shipped on the original date promised until I sent them a message asking them to hold off for a few features that I would like to see in the product. They said they would. Then I asked for the users on Remote Central to send in their requests, of which approximately 90% were implemented.

So, HTM could have shipped on the original ship date and you would have had far less of a remote. Happily, they took the users requests - and I think you were part of those who mentioned what they would like to see - and postponed the ship date until as many features as could fit into the memory on the remote could be added.

Again, just a better overview of their projected ship dates than what you mentioned, especially the line about the MX-500.

All is good! :-)

Greg, no bad feelings. I think very positively of HTM and never have a problem recommending the 500 and 700 to people that want push button remotes. I know how excited people get when a cool new product is announced. Someone says it will come out in August, so everyone starts asking on August 1st how come the product is not out, I am just trying to add some realism to their expectations.

Wow, sounds like one heckuva remote. I'm glad I'll be in the market for a new one this Fall!

Can someone elaborate on what it means to be able to send simultaneous multiple macros? Does this mean it would be able to turn on my RPTV, and while waiting for approx. 7 seconds to change the input, the remote would be able to control other components? Currently with my Pronto TSU2000, the remote is "in use" during a time delay and is not sending commands. I'm wondering if the MX-3000 overcomes this issue.

Also, I'm anxious to hear more about the variables and how they can be used. I sense that somehow the remote temporarily stores the "state" of a component in the case of non-discrete codes, but I hope to get more details on how this works/can be used (once the product is released, of course).

Also, I seem to remember reading that the screen size is 3.8" diagonally (think someone asked that question earlier in the thread).

Scott what you want can just be done by rearranging the macro steps.

From what Daniel said, it basically means that steps that are not IR related can be done simultaneously (for instant show on screen "TV is turning on" or beep or something like that)

Utilizing a spread sheet style instead of the usual macro list, MX-3000 Editor enables simultaneous events to occur within macros — such as setting variables, and issuing sound and text messages on the touch screen — all at the same time as an IR command. For example, every time a command is issued during a macro, the MX-3000 beeps, chimes or otherwise sounds off and displays an On-Screen message (such as ‘TV Turned On’ or ‘DVD is Playing’) showing what just transpired. Internal variable creation and tracking can also keep track of the fact that the TV, the surround system and the DVD are on, so that the Off macro will not issue power commands to devices not in use.

We can't stop you salivating, but if it becomes such a problem that you start drooling, we have a place you can spend the time until the remote is released. ;-)
