I don't get you guys...how many of you are driving around with a "coexist" bumper sticker or have thought about it or of that same mindset? You slap that shit on and the preach coexhist yet you feel that all conservatives are a poison and want to see nothing more then everyone that votes right or thinks right or centrist right should be thrown in a room and killed. You preach coexhist yet when it comes down to it you can't and won't and want to see all right wing minded people lynched. You make fun of hannity, Limbaugh, o Reily yet you have Maher, maddows, Morgan etc that you then get your panties in a bunch when hannity and the like calls them out and then skirt the question with consertives bashing....everyone of you are hypocritical.

It comes down to if someone doesn't align with your thoughts and beliefs then they are wrong and should be lynched. This is the mantra of the far left, time and time again. You preach coexhist and equality yet you guys are the worst offenders of it.

This shit will never get Hashed out on the webs and we will never see eye to eye. The public outcry of this CEO lynching was nothing more then a bandwagon and something to keep the media focused on anything but the real issues at hand to show that they are progressive thinking. Everyone jumped on it because it was "cool" and also want to be seen as hip and progressive.

For the record social issues have no place in Washington and I for one feel that if two men or two women want to love each other and want to show it by holy matrimony then they deserve that right. It is just not right that because this guy donated to something he believed in forced him to lose his job. What if the CEO of Wendy's donated to a gay rights group? It would have never come out like this and if it did he would be hailed as a god..but what if the tables were Turned and all the religious groups got him to resign for something he believed in? Then what? The double standard you guys have is truly absolutely astonishing. Wake up, pull your head out of your asses and realize your being the most hypocritical of them all.

Excuse grammar and punctuality, sent from my phone

Back in the sixties, the "Free Speech Movement" was started at UC Berkeley. At that time, Reagan had come down hard on Angela Davis, not wanting her to speak at any of the UCs. My opinion was that ideas should be heard -- if they were crap they would be found to be crap, but the only way to do that was to listen, to expose oneself to alternate ideas.

Well, the left now has its free speech and shouts down the right. Have you heard of conservative students shouting down liberal speakers? Nope -- only liberals shouting down conservatives.

As 3Pedal says, liberals are the worst when it comes to actual coexistence.

Two generalizations come to mind.
One, that I've seen again and again, is that conservatives think that liberals are wrong while liberals think that conservatives are evil. I understand that because I felt that way. Then I started thinking.  Dennis Miller says that his conversion started slightly before he started reading about political things.  The average liberal, I'd say, has a completely heart-felt conviction about his beliefs, but that conviction is rarely tested by discussion because the liberal refuses to expose himself to alternate ideas.

The second generalization, which most marvelously has not occurred here very much, is that the liberal does not engage in dialogue but instead shuts down the discussion by claiming SIX HIRB.  That is, the conservative is accused of being
Sexist
Intolerant
Xenophobic
Homophobic
Islamophobic
Racist
Bigoted

All you liberals, be on the lookout for situations where this name-calling occurs.  Once you have a sense that it does, you'll see it again and again and you'll be kicking yourself for never noticing it in the past!  And, of course, since there is no refuting such an accusation, the discussion stops.

Gotta go.

Re: Coexist stickers and the Free Speech movement.

You guys completely miss the point that the Coexist and Free Speech movement stood in direct challenge to the 'opinion' of Eich, ya know, that opinion he just happens to have that nobody seems to want to talk about except when described as a euphemism.

The opinions that denies the rights of gay to Coexist and live freely.

Actually, missing the point is putting it politely.

In this warped caricature of reality and justice, those who speak out against the oppression of the Prop 8 movement, speak for coexistence, and gay people who have opinions (that are frequently ignored), they are the oppressors. Not Eich and the Prop 8 movement.

Eich is the victim here, the Gaystapo is the oppressor. As the right wing punditry puts it, the 'homosexual lobby.'

It's hard for me to put into words what a completely farcical narrative devoid of any rationality this is, but it's considered rational by a large amount of our populace.

I'm not going to comment on the shrill overwrought projections about lynchings and killings other than... I'll just leave it in it's pure victimhood and persecution complex glory.

Religion and opinions are like penises. They are kind cool to have, but dont whip them out in public, wave them arounf and try to force them down others throats.

Actually started well before Angela Davis.
I needed to refresh my well-worn memory so pardon me if I quote wikipedia.
"On September 14, 1964, Dean Katherine Towle announced that existing University regulations prohibiting advocacy of political causes or candidates, outside political speakers, recruitment of members, and fundraising by student organizations at the intersection of Bancroft and Telegraph Avenues would be "strictly enforced." (This strip was until then thought to be city property, not campus property.)"
So when former Freedom Rider participants set up tables to recruit supporters and donations to carry on the civil rights efforts started that summer the campus and city police moved in and arrested several people.
That's what led to students taking over campus offices forcing the administration to change the policy.
And the rest is history ...
The Free Speech movement - started by liberals.

Let me see if I got this:

"Liberals are the worst when it comes to coexistence".
"Conservatives think that liberals are wrong but liberals think that conservatives are evil".
"Only liberals shout down conservatives".
"the liberal does not engage in dialogue but instead shuts down the discussion by claiming SIX HIRB."
"the liberal refuses to expose himself to alternate ideas."

I see what you did there Ernie. You're trying to be ironic and pretend you lack the self-awareness to realize that you just engaged in multiple vast over-generalizations vilifying liberals, to give an example of how liberals engage in vast over-generalizations vilifying conservatives.

You're a genius.

I could be wrong but I bet you were even intentionally showing how confirmation bias can cause one to interpret events such that they always reinforce ones beliefs. So that for instance, one intensely notices all attempts of one side to "stifle discussion" while ignoring all attempts by the other side to "stifle discussion".

Now that I've appreciated what a self-aware genius you are, here's what I suspect you were really trying to say for those who don't appreciate your subtlety.

1. Some conservatives and liberals give lip service to free speech but quickly try to silence those they disagree with.

2. It's best not to engage in vast over-generalizations saying what "conservatives think" or "liberals think", but rather to address specific points.

3. And so on and on.
