It has to do with those from IP who have brought their
lousy attitudes over here and post as if they are within
their "private" forum.

Don't make this out to be an IP vs. RC argument as it is certainly not that.

Still at a loss though...

clickerguy=ddarche?

That's the consensus.

Clickerguy does not initially appear to be ddarche, however it's possible. He has denied it.

It's unreal how many people don't a) read the forum topic heading b) read the sticky's posted at the very top.

If I want to post or reply about an RCA combo player, Vizio TV and some weird cable box that sounds like Roxy all being controlled via a Crestron Pro2 (god forbid it should ever happen), I'd say this would be the place to do it.

edit: Daniel, can you make it somehow a requirement to perform the a) and b) listed above before someone is allowed to post for the first time? I obviously don't know the logical way to do this, just throwing it out.

This entire thing has nothing at all to do with Dave and
any one person on this forum.

But he definitely shares in the blame.

It has to do with the general lack of respect by almost
everyone who posts on this forum on a regular basis.
You don't see this noise in any other forum here, except
this one.

I wholehardedly disagree with this. There are a select few of the regulars who are not professional in their posts and a lot of that has to do with what they are responding to.

It has to do with the silly pecking order and all of that.

I again disagree from personal experience.

It has to do with poor manners by almost everyone.

No- by a few people.

It has to do with those from IP who have brought their
lousy attitudes over here and post as if they are within
their "private" forum.

No idea on this.

It has to do with a lack of professionalism by almost
everyone. The longer you have been here the more you
are to blame for the lousy attitude within this forum.

No- by a few people.

It has to do with clickerguy and maybe he just made enough
of a stink to bring this to a head.

Yes.

It has to do with forum moderation by the owner. This
is a remote control CI forum. It is not for idle nonsence
and it is not for being a poor example when a DIY wanders
in here.

Don't blame moderation for people's inability to act like adults. As I have said previously, I've been on this list since 1999 and this is the first time that I can remember that Dan's had to take these actions. I applaud him for showing such restraint. I think a less moderated forum has much more to offer than one that is too moderated, though people do have to learn to police themselves.

It is not for discussions about every other type of equipment,
systems, security systems, amp/preamps, wiring or anything
that does not involve a remote control, including "what-did-I
do-today", including pissing and moaning about the customer
you had today, etc.

I'm not sure if you are saying you are in support of these topics or not, but I think all of them have worth.

Also, if you don't have the balls to post under your regular ID, don't bother to post at all.

I don’t think a personal attack on IP members is appropriate here. I am an IP member and yes, you can place some blame on my shoulders and I will accept it but my involvement had nothing to do with IP.

It has to do with a lack of professionalism by almost

Another bold statement!
Do you have a chart that associates length of membership with level of jerk?

Here you are just plain wrong.

Its time for everyone to say they are sorry, change the channel & talk about something else.

I will make it easy for everyone by going first.

If I have ever offended anyone on this site, I am truly sorry, please forgive me, I will try my best to never do it again.

If anyone else is sorry, I want to be the first to say, I forgive you.

Wow, I'm really surprised Daniel had to go and do this. I must have missed a few things that were said recently but hopefully its for the best. I've been on this site for quite a few years, under different names (had to switch when something i ranted about came back to my boss to bite me in the ass) I really hope we can go back to civil conversations about the things we're obviously all passionate about. We all come here for the same reasons. I enjoy this site b/c on IP im a small fish to guys who really blow my stuff out of the water. I occasionaly get to pay back and help someone here and it makes me feel good about myself and feel its good karma. Hope this takes away from some of the recent b.s. thats been going on here and we can get back to where this place should be. Daniel - your efforts are greatly appreciated. I've learned so much from being a part of this great forum.
Hope everyone gets the message and acts civil. I'd hate to see more great members get suspended.

Guys,

Dan has already said that Uno was clickerdips**t. I am sure that the one post that he got off will be his last.

To quote the unnamed, "this is surreal". I started out in this industry reading all that I could on this very forum (yes, I read more than I talked at that point...). Most of the things that I learned were from guys that eventually migrated to IP, as did I. The reason that I learned it from here was that this was the only place on the internet where a group of professionals in this industry congregated and interacted.

The development of IP was an ongoing process, up and down over many months until it reached a somewhat stable platform and began to really attract the guys from here as an ADDITIONAL resource. It still has some growing pains and some of the people over there support my learning to a far greater degree than I can thank them for. But, every time that there is an addition to the 'Is IP down' thread here it is because this is still a 'go-to' place where most of these great guys go to put their finger on what is happening on the street. However, most of the really important, industry specific, questions are asked over there and the guys that frequent here as well are the ones that are committed to helping people from the outside that have questions about our industry. I feel fortunate to count myself as a member of that forum, but remember that it is because of the basic info that I read here first.

Daniel is to be lauded with the moderation of a platform that has without question helped all of the people that have had outbursts here today. He is in the difficult position of having to decide which of the people that are throwing a fit have more of a case as to who is being the bigger a**hole. He is also in the position of having to decide between someone who actually supports (advertises on) his site and the people who benefit from it. He has been decidedly unselfish in that respect.

I regret some of the posts that I have made in these forums to antagonize a certain person whom I will not name. But, in my opinion he brought everything on himself and turned from his childish antics to real threats towards real people. When he began to publish personal info on public websites he crossed the line, and when he began threatening those people with physical harm he set himself up for actual legal problems.

The sum of the whole thing is that there are people who have sincere and passionate emotions about this industry and what it could be, and then we all get that twisted up with the 'relative' anonymity of the internet. Throw in one unstable individual that doesn't necessarily see the reasoning of the plurality and it becomes a volatile situation. Throw in another individual that has the sole purpose of antagonizing everyone (especially when everyone pretty much thinks that the two are 'one and the same') and you have an explosion.

I hope that Daniel and the other guys work their differences out. Daniel is as much a 'Pro' as any of the rest of us, even if his main focus is to provide us a place to congregate (and sometimes 'air out our differences'). There will always be a place for both forums, hopefully this one will make it's way back to being as helpful as it once was.

This should no be a an RC vs IP thing, because what would IP be without RC??

The general tone around has went down the toliet lately as we all know. It is frustrating seeing clickerguy spew what he seems to think are facts or someone give out advice when they don't know there head from there ass. But I guess those are the joys of the Internet, everyone is an expert who has just read a cut sheet...

Peace!!
