ddarche: banned until personal apologies are sent to all offended and they accept them.

clickerguy: banned for being a troll.

Springs: suspended for threatening me.

tschulte: suspended for insulting the entire membership (although this is probably what he wants?)

JeezusH: banned for being a troll.

DHarmonyAV: suspended for being JeezusH.

2nd rick: suspended, because of all people I expected more from him.

oex: matter cleared up; now re-instated.

A number of recent threads/posts I didn't like: deleted or closed.

Done.

Daniel, with all respect, I think strict moderation IS nessesary. I mean, these guys who can't seem to act civil and want to disrespect everyone, telling the entire forum that what I do for a trade, my skill, and my entire company is basically a joke.. makes me not want to post here.

I think we should have a verified section, that way at least there will be a section we can all talk biz, without immature persons causing negativity.

Anyway, please consider what I have suggested, and give me a shout if can be any help to the forum.

Audioslayve,

You do realize that the pro's here are not the only ones being disrespected? Have you noticed how many poor DIY people have come here, who have been ignorant, or stupid, or not made for the biz or what ever you want to say have been disrespected by the pro's here? I see this in so many places. The people who think they are higher than others treat the "lowers" poorly, but when they get treated poorly, oh man, the person should be banned. the guys who bash others around her acts like there not disrespectful or immature but in the harsh reality, once you get bashed you can't take it.

treat other's the way you like to be treated, that is the only way you will gain the respect you want.

Dan,

I'm sorry to hear that- I applaud you for having the patience wait this long on Dave and clickerguy. I'll have to say that I'm surprised that Springs and oex acted in that manner, it doesn't seem like them. Hopefully they will calm down and do the right thing and apologize to you.

CJ

PS- I personally hate that you had to take those steps. People should take responsibility for their own actions and words and act like adults.

i agree with alihashemi. also, i'd like to say i've been impressed with the maturity and restraint shown by daniel by not banning people at will. dave deserved it for sure, but i noticed he wasn't banned for all the bullsh*te he was spewing about "i'm the best, bring it on", but only when he actually threatened a member's family. to me this is indicitave of a good moderator. banning members without extreme violoations just makes for a boring forum.

Daniel,
I’m not sure if it makes any kind of difference but I will share with you a quote out of an email by Dave. "Thanks for the comforting words. Lately I need a few comforting words. Oh well, I made my bed. Now I have to lie in it for awhile."
He has had the chance to re-engage in past arguments and has chosen not to do so. Dave simply made a comment such as the go there and stay there comment which is no worse then anything anyone else has said recently. Especially given the fact that he was already under attack before any of us even knew he was here. I understand that this was bad timing on his part since we were all engaged with Clickerguy and already held the belief that they were 2 in the same. I read back and see that we said some awful things about Dave and saw no real retaliation in those threads. It is my opinion the re-banning of Dave is a mistake and If we would all act like adults (including myself) and let the past be the past, we could have a smooth relationship that is beneficial to all. (Just my two Cents)

Me: Banned for disagreeing with Daniel.

This is why Dave was allowed back in in the first place. I received a satisfactory letter of explanation, and he served a month off.

However I do agree that he should apologize to those whom he sent certain letters to, and that really should have occured during that month off, so now I will allow those with ACTUAL (and not merely referred) complaints with Dave to be the ones to say whether Dave should be allowed back or not.

I can respect your decision. However, I do believe that an email should be sent to Dave explaining that. I'm also curious if those individuals involved will report to you having received such an apology.

This entire thing has nothing at all to do with Dave and any one person on this forum.

It has to do with the general lack of respect by almost everyone who posts on this forum on a regular basis. You don't see this noise in any other forum here, except this one.

It has to do with the silly pecking order and all of that.

It has to do with poor manners by almost everyone.

It has to do with those from IP who have brought their lousy attitudes over here and post as if they are within their "private" forum.

It has to do with a lack of professionalism by almost everyone. The longer you have been here the more you are to blame for the lousy attitude within this forum.

It has to do with clickerguy and maybe he just made enough of a stink to bring this to a head.

It has to do with forum moderation by the owner. This is a remote control CI forum. It is not for idle nonsence and it is not for being a poor example when a DIY wanders in here.

It is not for discussions about every other type of equipment, systems, security systems, amp/preamps, wiring or anything that does not involve a remote control, including "what-did-I do-today", including pissing and moaning about the customer you had today, etc.

And who says this isn't for whatever equipment or topics that members want to talk about. Certainly not you. Have you ever read the descriptions of the forum that have been there since day one?

"The professional's place for designing home theaters, picking equipment and troubleshooting installations. Join the active CI community!"

"Welcome to the forum created exclusively for the professionals: custom installers. If you're looking for help choosing the right equipment, dealing with installation difficulties, automating difficult devices or just feel like chatting, this is the place to be."
