It's relatively easy to do it yourself. Can be a steep learning curve for some people.

Software is available on this site I believe. The Help File along with FAQ on Philips Web site will hopefully be enough to get you started.

If not, you could purchase "The Ultimate Pronto Guide" as the 9600 editor is based on the older NG platform's editor and the design patterns it explains still apply for the 9600. UPG is available from www.remotequest.com or prontowizard.com.

Thanks Lyndel, for the plug. I was considering a re-write for the Guide but it is a giant job. Since the editors have not changed that much, I will probably leave it as is. The basics within the Guide (planning, design, design aids, training processes, etc.) are still very pertainent for the TSU9600. The only missing items are the latest 9600 new features and those particular menu items.

Pete thanks for your reply. I really dont know how far I can take this remote besides just controlling the basic features that the installer placed in there. I was told that I can download the channel icons myself but it will knock out the programing in there already. I have a Toshiba hd player a da-lite screen a loaner receiver untill my Onyko comes out, and a Direct TV HD Box and Sony Projector seem like everyone I talk tries to tell me it is to complicated or you car mess it up. All I need is someone to work with me if you can please call 919-949-4497 Thanks

Why are you not working with your installer? You paid them good money. Just curious.

Have you downloaded the software and had a look at the help file? There's bunches O stuff in the help file. You can also glean other information from the Classic Pronto FAQ and the Pronto NG FAQ as well. Philips also has a 9600 FAQ on their site but you need some background to use it.

If you are interested in learning to program the remote, Daniel has some good background in the TSU7000 Review. Start here.

The ProntoEdit 4 manual also will likely supply some good tips that apply to all Pronto-based remotes that are PC programmable (except the NEO).

ok i paid contractors for the whole job. they use different people for different things. i wasn't home when the installer came out but when i got home i had the basics programed into my remote in fact if i turn off my other componets in turns my hd player on he didn't even know about the channel icons I paid thes guys to purchase the remote and when i spoke to then about putting on the channel icons and being able to control all the function of my receiver they started telling ohh Robert that sounds like additional programming stuff I spent a $1000 for a remote, more money for the rf kit and $125 per item to be hooked up and I feel I should get the full potental out of the remote. Even though Im new at this im a quick learner. So I appreciate you help.

Here is my suggestion:
1. This device can be configured any way you want - sky is the limit.
2. Determine how do you want to control your devices. My "Home" screen has locations (living room, home theater, etc.). Each location has pages filled with functions or events (DVD, relax, dinner, etc.).
3. Once you created your basic structure, create page(s) with buttons for each of them.
4. When all buttons are created you may start the programming. This is the most technical part which you may outsource. At this point programming person is forced to do it the way you want.
Good luck.
