True. Jim, you didn't plug your sites Philips interview?

Looks like the consumer will be able to program their
own remotes. Thank goodness. The question is who's going
to be the distributers?

Freddy C.

Thanks Freddy. I don't particiate at Remote Central for the commercial plugs and try desparately to only post where I can contribute to the forums.

The original image I posted on the TSU9600 was from an ad released by AVAD so I can confirm that they are at least one of the disty sources.

The two distributors start with A's. Must have a thing for vowels. :-)

So you have to be a dealer to buy it?

I think those are the distributers, not dealers. The dealers will buy from them for sale to us.

Those ARE the distributors where the dealers get them.

I am wondering if Phillips will implement some of the new software functionality of the ProtoPro Edit into the TSU7000 / TSU7500 software version? (or maybe it will be one in the same?) For instance the ability to easily manage and implement channel macros using a template, or the drop down menu for MyDatabase?

It seems that it would be easy for them to implement that across the board... and would certainly come in handy for all models.

Anyone with a scoop on that?

No scoop, but they'd have to be loony to do that unless they plan on selling 7500s for a long time. There is a $300 difference, so maybe they don't see the 9600 as a replacement for the 7500. If that's the case, then upgrading the 7500 editor makes sense.

Lyndel,

I assummed you would be on the beta team for this? If not you, who else on RC is on the beta team?

I also saw it at CEDIA and had 15-20 minutes to check it out and it looks very promising.

It seems to me that they are very different remotes (the 9600 & 7500) in both style and price, so maybe they are not considering it a replacement. Also, isn't the 9600 intended for more of a professional rather than consumer base than the 7500? I know that their website still has the 7500 as their primary Pronto, and I heard that the 9600 wont be as readily available as the 7500 is... to consumers at least.

But then again, why would they prefix the 9600 model number as a TSU, if that were the case? That suggests to me that it's in the same model family, even though the body style is completely different.

food for thought I guess.

Does anyone know if this remote has two way communication? Will it be able to tell me what the volume of my amp is on the screen?

This would come in very handy considering I would like to have my equipment in another room...

Dave,

Are you, RemoteQuest, planning on selling the 9600 on your site?

Thanks,

Thomas

So, I still can't seem to find the answers on this thing...

1) Will it be available to the public for user level programming?

2) When will it be available?

Do I sound like a kid looking for a new toy?
