More to the point, will it be installer only or available to end users?

I feel like it would be for installer only, have you noticed how Daniel renamed this forum to "Philips Pronto NG Family"?

Martin :-)

Yeh, but that could just be to group these similar remotes in one easy to find category.

Anyone have any insider info as to whether the new Pronto is dealer only or not?

I note that NevoSL just raised its MSRP, but kept the dealer price the same. Also, UEI announced a model with a built-in Sirius radio. Apparently you can select the channel you want and stream it via WiFi to your PC. [Link: uei.com] I'd guess that the new Pronto will get something similar eventually.

The Philips site has been updated. There's even an installer brocure that's a downloadable pdf file. Another website has the official press release. The unit will be $1299, and the two extenders are $299 (wireless) and $599 (serial). I didn't know if I could post another sites URL here, so if this is a no-no, please delete ...

I've updated our CEDIA Report with the press release and other new details from today.

I also wanted to comment that Philips has recently restructured their distribution in the US, from dozens of companies down to just two, in order to better control where their product is sold, but I'm told they will continue to fully support the enthusiast market.

My 2 cents:

Looks pretty good. Got lighting, drapes and music. Now they need to team up with a fan and a thermostat supplier (Is anyone else besides me tired of posts asking how to control fans?)

I can't wait to do a config in 30 minutes. They may have taken all the pain (and fun) out of it.

No wonder UEI raised the price of a NevoSL. They will still be $300 under Pronto.

Hooray for enthusiasts. It's nice to know that at least one company cares!

I saw the new piece and did the training today. The remote looks decent, but I don't think Philips has a clue on the direction they want to go. Looks like they have been watching what everyone else has been doing and realized they were way behind.

It was like look we have channel macro wizards, RS 232, and IR routing, aren't we really a great Remote company. Uhm, look around.

First its a remote for the pros, limited distribution ( so they say ), one cannot upload the configuration from the unit, but then they say that the software will be availible to anyone. So how is that a unit for the pros, take a look at the URC debacle. Just admit its another DIY toy and accept it for what it is.

I know I will get flamed because this is a DIY forum, but it is what it is. I stopped supporting Philips on a Professional level several months ago and the presentation I saw today did nothing to bring me back.

At the price point they are looking to be in I could do a MP2E and a 1700 and just be a little over. But have the stability of Crestron.
When good enough is not good enough.

I would like to know if the TSU-9600 will support real time feedback for the Imerge line. The info only lists the Fireball products. I called Phillips "tech support" this morning and was supprised to hear they they are only a consumer help line and did not know the answer. Further more, they could not give me a contact to find out. I called my Pronto distributor ans they have not seen or been trained on this unit yet. Ithought this would be a simple question to answer?

Thats Phillips for you, need help in the field and you are sol.

As of right now Escient is the only company they have partnered with as far as feedback. They say they are working with others for this feature, nothing specific as far as times though.
