- Some users have a version of software on their box which allows the IR in plug to control another piece of equipment, like a VCR. This is NOT turned on for every box nor does it serve as a true "IR IN".

In addition to the "skip ahead 30" code, there is also a "back 15" code.
Cable cards are best left to be installed by the cable company. There are certain 2-way caommands that need to be initiated (especially when there is troubleshooting) during setup. You need a special ID only a cable company would have.
The CableCard is not implemented in all areas by all providers. Check with your provider before you try to install a card.
