I've only sold/used the T2-C, but I have a client that just has a simple set up (in relative terms...).

Projector
Fixed screen
AVR
Vios Receiver
DVD

He didn't want any control, but now he's considering it.

I'm thinking a simple RP-1 w/ maybe a T2-Cs - better than a T2-B I would guess...?

Thoughts?

The T2Cs is a color T2B...Ok a little more customization on the screen..Its a 6X6 Grid, but its still grid based like the T2+ and T2B

Decent remote and still easy to use, I have done a few with no issues

Look at the kits if you go that route

So it has a narrower screen like the T2-B?

The T2Cs has a 2.4 in (61mm) diagonal
High-contrast Color TFT LCD
1/4 VGA (240x320 pixels) with 65K colors
Integrated high-resolution touchscreen

And the T2C has a 2.8 in (71mm) diagonal
High-brightness color TFT LCD
1/4 VGA (240x320 pixels) with 65K colors
Integrated high-resolution touchscreen

So yes a smaller screen

I usually don't give the customers the option of the T2-Cs for several reasons. It may sound crazy but after doing several large projects with both systems you'll understand why. I have done video matrix setups for both remotes. Without a doubt the T2-C is a much better remote to design templates/pages on.

I have one project with 5 T2-C and a video matrix. Each remote is basically setup for 16 rooms of operation including cable services, dvd, media pc, sat. radio. the remote has well over 200 pages, it may be nearing 300 pages now, i've lost count. 3-4 animation flips for various items. Placing items/buttons/images is very flexible and overs a wide variety of options for designing your templates.

I have also done a similar setup with the T2-Cs. The pages from T2-C can not be imported, everything has to be done from scratch. Because of the 6x6 grid system, you are limited to the placing of the icons and more importantly the buttons with text for items in set spots, you can not always layout the pages as you'd like to and most times have to settle for something less than you were originally planning. Page flips are done differently (imo it is not as nice at the T2-C).

I would recommend sticking with the T2-C, its only .4" difference def. limits the capabilities of the T2-Cs. Even for small systems, you can produce a much nicer remote for your clients.

I agree. I sold one T2-Cs for a project. The graphics looked off to me. I bit the bullet and ate the cost difference and put in a regular T2-C.

If the arguement is between the T2C and T2Cs then I think without question it's worth the upgrade to the T2C. But if my customer can only pony up for the T2-B then I think it's worth giving them the kit for a reduced price and they can have color. Even though it's a matrix grid the color make all the difference in the world.

I agree the T2-C is better. I found the limitation of the grid frustrating. I can't put things anywhere you want on the T2Cs, so limited on the number of icons you can place on there, and where they go. If you get started with the T2Cs, or coming up from a T2b you will probably think that it is great. I started with the T2C.

Certainly the T2C is better, there is no question about it. but on such a small scale program the T2CS would suffice for your clients needs no doubt. The price point would be appreciated by them also, but give your client the choice between the two with prices and pro's/con's. I was used to programming a T2C, (infact its the same remote I use at home) when I first used the T2CS I HATED it. however, On small systems with maybe a Zone 2, its perfectly fine, just find the right graphics and background. But on larger systems, do yourself a favor and dont go lower than a T2C.
