I often use direct frequency tuning via 232 to call up radio stations to avoid having to set/reset or maintain radio presets for clients. I have all of the local stations already created and templated as macros on the processor and just grab what I need.

I have not done this, however, with HD radio yet. Does anyone know if I have to first select the HD radio input before I issue a HD tuner frequency direct command? I was hoping that by issuing the TFHDxxxxx/r command, without first issuing the HD radio input command, it would automatically switch to the HD tuner.

I am trying to design programming that would have the look and feel of a single tuner to the end user. The source selection would be invisible to the user... just choose a station and nothing more. This would work for XM as well... and you HAVE to have the input set on XM to use XM direct tuning.

You need to have the input set for the HD just like XM, from what I've experienced. At least with the latest firmware update, it's a quicker change over.

Jimmy Bellagio had a Denon question that you might be a ble to help with at [Link: remotecentral.com]

He's talking about IR, but I figure you might know anyway. He wants to know if XM channel changing macros will work for Zone 2. As you mention above,
... and you HAVE to have the input set on XM to use XM direct tuning.

so the question becomes, does Zone 1 have to be on XM to use direct tuning, or will direct tuning also work if Zone 2 is on the XM input?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
