Looking for suggestions on a cheap but acceptable 5.1 in ceiling surround sound system with an additional 2-3 Zones. Including cables, and all equipment, ideally it would cost no more than $1500.
I am used to dealing with higher end systems. Trying to understand that not everyone has an engineer's ear and most people just care about value and price rather than a systems technical superiority.
What are we thinking?

$1500 will get you a Denon 4200 receiver that's pretty sweet, it's a start anyway. [Link: usa.denon.com] You probably need to add another zero to come anywhere near what you are describing.

There is a way to connect multiple Bluetooth speakers and create a mini multi-room audio system. Just make sure your speakers are Airplay-enabled and you have an Apple product to use Airplay. Here's a post showing you how to connect Airplay: [Link: noisylabs.com]
