When unit is turned on the Pre-On light continues to blink, and the second flip of the relay in the transformer will not flip. Is there a quick resolution to this problem that anyone has had in the past. Greatly appreciate your comments or answers to this question.

Hmmm... Possibly your overloading the amplifier? IE too many speakers in parallel without matchers?

No not at all, i'm only using two(2) JBL speakers. This is being used in a small room. Overloading not a issue.

Short circuit? The second flip is probably the output disconnect relay not engaging because the circumstances aren't right. Check for a short, see if that fixes it, if not, it may be an internal problem. Overloading would attach the speakers until the overload condition was found then disconnect them. The speaker switch might be disengaged....if it has one. If all these turn out to be okay, and you disconnect the speakers and it still won't send output to the relays, then it's a problem with the receiver. I don't know this receiver, it might have an internal shutoff to the power amp section.

What happens when you disconnect the speaker wires from the rcvr. If the relay clicks then you have a short and it is protecting it self. Check your wires with an ohm meter

Yes, i've put an ohm meter and volt meter on all perspective areas, and they check out ok. Everything is disconnected from the rcvr. But as soon as I connect the audio out from a vcr to the input, you can barely hear the sound with volume at maximum level. There are no speakers connected at this point as well. I'm using the headphone output to computer speakers in my work area. Still the second relay switch isn't flipping on, the Pre-On light remains blinking.

Is there a tape 2 monitor path? Or a preamp loop before the amp? Tape 2 monitors usually are a loop, meaning if you engage the tape 2 monitor, but have nothing hooked up to it, then no signal is passed from the output, to the input, which then goes into the power amp. An EQ loop works the same way, if the loop is activated, but not completed, then no signal will make it to the amp.

Yes, that is correct, but the Pre-On light should not still remain blinking after powering up. It should automatically default back to last assignable input i.e.(VCR,TAPE,TUNER,CD,etc.) It just keeps blinking continuously. The relay still dosen't trip the second time after power comes on. Looks like i'm going to trash this thing in a while if I don't get any good answers. LOL. I've been troubleshooting this thing for about a week now. Looks like a problem with the on-screen board chip so far. Will still continue to check though.................

I wish I knew what the Pre-On light signals. What does "Pre-On" mean? When is "Pre-On" a normal condition and what is the amp SUPPOSED to do in that case? Don't trash it, it's probably just a simple problem. Might be a blown fuse inside the unit? More information about normal operation, where "pre-on" appears, what it means....would be helpful.

Pre-On is the pre-amp before it's goes back into last initial state it was in prior(VCR,Tape,CD,DVD,etc.). Then it will click again for the second time (2nd relay). This isn't happening at all.

I honestly can't find ANYTHING about Marantz SR-63's. Just about everything else I read about other SR's talk about them not working....so it might just have gone by way of the kaput. Sorry I can't be of anymore help.

this problem is related to the 7812 which is a 12V regulator and the caps around it. also, bad solder joints on the pain board. it's about a 20 mins repair. 7812 location Q801 all the caps all around the area need to be replaced. then just look at the bottom of the board to bad solder joints. this unit also gets display problems which is also bad solder joints on the display board
