I have my TV, a Sony KDL-V32XBR1 set to skip the old analog channels. I can easily go from a channel like 5.1 to 7.1 by usinig the channel UP button on the remote. What I want to be able to do is to go from a channel like 5.1 to a channel like 32.1 directly by pressing 32.1. There is no decimal point on the remote that handles this. For now I need to go to 32 on the remote and then press the channel UP button. I'm looking for a way to skip this last set.
Tahnks for any advice.

I suppose I need some clarification - is it your original TV's remote that lacks a decimal button, or do you own the RM-AV2500 already and trying to figure out how to get it to do this?

At any rate there IS a decimal key on the RM-AV2500 (bottom left of the numeric keypad), but if your original TV's remote lacks this button I can't guarantee that it's going to work. Although knowing Sony it *should* work (for example, I own a Sony HDTV DVR and its original remote had no "previous channel" button, however generating the expected code for that function using an advanced remote did in fact work).

Thank you Mr. Tonks for your reply.

Indirectly you may have provided solution that I will attempt to implement. Whereas you said there exists “a decimal key on the RM-AV2500 (bottom left of the numeric keypad)” I do not see one for any of the function keys of my 2500 (TV, CBL, SAT, etc.) The lower left position of my 2500 keypad (the position immediately to the left of the 0 key) is a blank area. When this position on the keypad is pressed no signal (as evidenced by a beep) seems to be transmitted. However, there indeed does exist a decimal key on the Sony RM-D002 remote that came with the television.

As only a few television stations in my area contain a 0 in their identification I will try to “teach” the 2500 to replace its keypad 0 designation with the decimal point from the D002. This might be a fairly acceptable work-around for me.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Yes the workaround to "teach" the 0 button to "learn" the decimal point on the TV remote worked.

Why not teach the actual decimal key if it's otherwise unused? No need to replace 0.

See the manual for a list of possible labels, or the graphic lower down on this page: [Link: remotecentral.com]
