Since I'm considereing going back to a Sony remote I've spent some time here scanning posts. There are numerous threads requesting device codes for various components and many go unanswered.

My question is: Can't Sony remotes learn all codes from any component? Over at the URC forum that procedure is highly recommended (using aux 155), rather than playing around with device codes that usually jumble the various commands from button to button. The reviews state that there is plenty of memory in Sony remotes and learning everything is usually faster than sorting through the misplaced buttons. Am I missing something?

I suppose I'll go with the new 4000 but I'm also intrigued by the 2500. Has anyone with the 2500 hit roadblocks to the point where they wish they'd gone with another model?

Thanks, Dan

I think we ask a bit to much from a remote that costs $200 - $400 dollars. As the complexity of each persons system grows the complaints and shortcommings skyrocket. I read here that the 4000 is a good buy and fun to use and program.......

Most of the people you see looking for codes (and I will clarify that I mean those who do have the original device remotes available) just don't *want* to have to learn codes, even though the amount of time it takes to learn them would be far less than the time spent looking for a code.
