I have read and reread the section on inputting dvd's to creat a list of disks on a computer using the supplied program that can be transfered to the nx-7000 remote. I have not been able to do this so far and the Sony telephone help desk was no help...
I was hoping someone here had done it and could put the steps into simple english so I could set up a list for my mega player.
Thanks.......

No not yet. I use the remote for everything when watching a movie, but I use three paper lists to find older dvd's. Once I know where they are in the dvd players I can watch them. I also bought a computer program Movie Lable 2006. I add the "where it is" info to the movie list info and it speeds things up a bit. Not as slick as fully automated remote but it works......

Ikebotnick I have not been able to figure out the first few key steps to entering the data. The book makes it seem very complicated. You say you use the computer program to get things loaded?

Are you tellin us that your doing all the programming and customization of your NAVITUS via the setup on the remote itself !?!?

if you are trying to enter the items via the remote itself, its never going to happen - you must use the software that came with it on your computer.

Sorry for the mis-understanding Guys. I very much do use a computer to do all of the remotes programing. I am slow to figure out the sequence to create a working list of dvd's that would control my dvd players and amp etc. My players each contain 400 dvd's. The book seems very laborious and causes me to give up. Everthing else works great so far.

Even using the software, building your DVD list, or any of the lists can take 10's of hours because you not only have to enter the text info, but you have to build an alias macro for every one (if you want to call up a disc directly from the list screen). The Navitus kicks out signals so fast that you almost have to enter a delay between every step... this can add up to about 18-25 mouse clicks to build the macro for each disc!!
Myself, I simply entered all the disc info... I would rather just lookup the disc title and number in the list and then manually enter it, instead of spending 100 hrs building all those macro's!!

Heres a tip that might help you, if you just want to enter the titles and disc numbers only... as I did, do this...
In order to even add an element to a list, it must be associated with an alias macro, simply add a "delay" of the default time (0.1 sec.) as your macro... this will allow you to complete the entry and it to the list, but will not have any actual function in the list.

You could always to this now so your DVD's are all in there... then if you ever get seriously bored or have 70-80 hours to kill, you can go back and add the actual macro's to each element later. It sounds like your macro list would probably contain alias's to not only send codes for each digit of the disc number to the appropriate changer, but also steps to change the input on your tuner and/or tv... with delays between the digit steps, this could mean up to 9-10 macro steps for every disc in your collection!!

Keep in mind that the more info (text, macro steps, etc) that are in any list file, the longer it takes the processor to load it... in other words, if you have 400 dvds in a list, complete with 7-10 macro steps each, it could actually take a couple minutes or more for the list to come up after you press your "list" button!! Quite often in my case, the battery goes dead while the processor is crankin away loading my list!

I hope this helps!

theonlyest, Thank you very much. I realized it was a huge and a bit complex task and I thought I was mis reading the book. I will build a general list keeping it very simple sometime. For now I have three small lists that I keep up and the rest is done with the remote. I will happily keep it that way. I am going to wait a bit to see what technology dvd's and players end up with........

I think you are making a mistake not entering in the actual macro. All you have to do is make 1 and then duplicate it for each other one. Then make some minor modifications to the number (position) For example - create 1 for position #1. For cd #2, add the name appropriately and the position (which you are going to do anyway) and then for the macro - duplicate it and add a 2, then delete the 1. Thats really it. I added 200 in about 3 hours. Now, I just bring up my list - it asks for the genre, and i choose which one to play. Point the remote at the dvd/cd player and press enter. I'm going to add the other 50 or so tonight when i get to it. I was going to buy a laptop computer and some software to do this for me because sony's selection method was terrible. But, this remote does the job for me. I would say that the only pain is in adding 1 more cd or dvd. You have to hook back up to the computer and then upload/download etc.

ickbotnick are you using a multidisk dvd machine? The macro you write about is great for a single dvd player or several single dvd players but does not mention how you tell the player to move to the correct slot etc. As theonlyest wrote it is a biger task to do everything automaticly it seems.

i am using the Sony DVP-CX777ES 400 disk player. the macro is easy.
1) display
2) pause .5 seconds
3) right arrow
4) pause .5 seconds
5) send a number (1-9)
6) pause .5 seconds
7) (if necessary - send other nunbers)
8) (if necessary - send pause between numbers)
9) Enter
10) display

the numbers are alias'

when you create a new entry - just type in the name and number and then duplicate the macro and change the appropriate number - its simple
