I think I have found out a solution to get round the spectacular and well known problem regarding RM-AV3000 repeating commands in system macros.......

Many people including myself have seen the problem when learning in a surround mode, on/off, multi ch. or other toggle command - and this command button is used in a system macro. When You use the macro, the AV3000 repeates the command up to 4 times...

The way to get round the problem is so..........

When You learn in the command, You immedeatly after firering this specific command button, fire another (unused) command. This seems to fill up the code memory for the particular button in the AV3000, and the command will not be repeated, when used in a system macro. So the only thing You need to make the trick, is a accidental remote commander for a device You don't use, or just an unused command in one of Your system remotes. The unused command is our way to fill up the AV3000's button-memory with "IR noice".

Let's take an example, where we like to learn in the "ON/OFF" toggle command for a receiver. (This is typically giving repeating problems in macros).

In the example I use the following:
• The RM-AV3000 - of cause ("3000").
• The receivers original remote ("ORIGINAL").
• A remote commander for an old unused TV ("DUMMY"),
on which we will use the "VOL-" as IR-noice.

1) Place the "ORIGINAL" and the "DUMMY" in front of
the "3000" pointing their IR-led's into the "3000".
2) Activate the learn function on the "3000" for lear-
ning the "ON/OFF" button on the receiver component.
3) Press shortly the "ON/OFF" button on the "ORIGINAL".
4) Just in the second You release the "ON/OFF" button
on the "ORIGINAL" You press and hold down the "VOL-"
button on the "DUMMY" until the "3000" beeps ok.

Now the "ON/OFF" button on the "3000" should be programmed so it will not be repeated, when You use it in a system macro.

Each time You press "ON/OFF" on the "3000" it will fire both the "ON/OFF" command for the receiver and the "VOL-" command for the TV. But as You don't use this TV anymore - the "VOL-" will not have any effect, and will practically be invisible.

I hope many people will have succes with this little trick, as it has been very usefull for me.

Repeating commands in macro's is usually caused by improperly learning the command from another remote. If you hold the button on the original remote down until the 3000 beeps, it should solve the problem.

If this doesn't solve the problem, it seems the solution above is a good one.

And in this thread [Link: remotecentral.com] Daniel Tonks gave another reason why this might occur:

This is a very common problem - for some reason, when you learn a "non repeating" code, the remote repeats it three times when played back in a macro. Due to the speed some devices only see it as two codes - on and off again - frustrating new users to no end. :-)
