To troubleshoot, set the code in the UR5-8400 to match the equipment your friend has, and see if it operates it. If it does, then you know the UR5 is working properly, which means that it won't be able to control the receiver.

A plus would be if someone had a Sony TV, VCR, etc, that you could test the UR5 on by loading the appropriate Sony code. If the UR5 operated the Sony equipment, this would probably positively indicate that the STR-KS2000 is stuck in AV2 command mode.

Sorry about that. Maybe someone who has successfully changed
either the STD-DG710 or STR-DG720 receiver to AV1 will
post their comments here.

OK, I returned my STR-DG720. Now, can anyone confirm that you can change the command mode on the STR-DG910. Otherwise, I guess I will have to purchase the STR-DA3300ES.

It probably cannot be changed, as discussed in this thread. [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you have a learning remote, it's not a problem because you can learn everything. If you don't, it might be cheaper to get one than to buy a more expensive receiver.

Ron,

It appears from the manual that the STR-DA3300ES can be changed to AV1. You agree? Do you know if it is a good receiver and worth the extra $$$?

Thanks for pointing this out. I checked more deeply into the manuals and found out that both the STR-DG900 and the STR-DG910 should allow the AV1/AV2 change and updated the thread to show this.

I also saw that the remotes are similarly set up, meaning they have the same RM SETUP button, so the procedure using the RM SETUP button and pressing 1 or 2 might work with them, and I also added this to the thread.

If someone with the STR-DG910 could test both the receiver and remote with these procedures and report back, that would be a big help.

Hello, fantastic thread! I wonder if anyone has any insight on changing the command code for a Sony HT-CT100 ? I can't find anything in the manual and I tried a number of procedures from some of the other home theater systems and haven't had any luck yet.

Thanks for any advice or input.

I doubt that you can change the command code. Why do you need to do that?

I've got the 720 now and once I finally got it set up perfectly, I ran into the remote issue. This has me thorough pissed. I contacted Sony support both web web chat (useless, he had no clue) then by phone. The woman I talked to on the phone knew what I was asking about and said the 720 only support AV1 and doesn't ship as AV2. So the real problem is that whatever code set they're using isn't supported by me dish network remote. This is unacceptable and I am also returning this unit tonight.

I own a new STR-DG910. I have not been able to switch the remote to AV1 using the above mentioned methods of hitting the program button, 1, then enter. Switching the reciever to AV1 worked flawlessly. I will continue trying different methods and hopefully come up with a solution other then getting a harmony or some such remote.

Tried all the similar fixes for my system and none worked. Am trying to get a Peanut Tivo remote to control a Sony STRDG-820 that shipped with a AAP-021 remote. I think I am getting the receiver to switch to AV1 because after I do that the remote doesn't work. But none of the remote hacks seem to work.

My problem was addressed in the Tivo Forum. Apparently, while my strdg-820 receiver can be toggled to AV-1, the oem remote (aap-021) can't. I am getting a tivo glo remote and will teach it the receiver power and volume commands.

Greetings,

I just bought a Sony STR-DE197 at Circuit City. I did a forum search here, and found nothing about this model. None of the methods in this thread appear to switch the command mode from AV2 to AV1.

Does anyone else have this unit?

Thanks!
