Need help: I have Directv genie remote RC66RX & trying to program it to operate my Yamaha RXV379 A/V unit in the AV2 slot of my Directv remote.
Several of the codes listed on DTV site: 30176, 31276, & etc... allow me to control volume (up, down, mute) & a few allow me to control volume & turn off the Yamaha A/V unit, but not turn it back on. I have to use the Yamaha remote to turn unit on. I know this thread is old, but has anyone found the code(s) or setup process that will allow on/off and volume control using the DTV remote. A forthcoming Blue Ray/DVD player will use AV1 slot on DTV remote, so I prefer not to use that slot just for on/off capability.

Have you called their 1-800-531-5000 number? Please note: We cannot guarantee programming compatibility for all makes and models of equipment.

You WILL NOT find a single code that does both ON & OFF for Yamaha in ANY Directv remote. Sorry. Onkyo & HK owners are in the same boat.

As a possible help to others, I just got directv service and purchased an RC66RX remote to replace the horrible RC73 that came with the system. I was able to program the remote to turn off my Yamaha RX-A840 receiver and control the audio, but was having trouble with turning on the receiver with the remote.
After a little research and trial and error, I found code 32467, which turns my receiver on and off and also controls the volume on the receiver. I don't know if this will work for other receivers, but it does for the RX-840. Hopefully this helps someone else!

Hello,
I have connected my RC65 remote to my Yamaha natural sound about receiver HTR-5930 on av2 and can control the menu by using the arrow buttons, but the volume control still doesn't work for the Yamaha. Any advice?
Thanks!

Do you have tv code programmed to the tv device on the directv remote? The volume keys won't work at all without one. Once there's a tv code, and a partially working Yamaha code programmed to av1 or av2 device, to get the volume:
1. av1 or av2 2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks, release 3. enter 9 9 3 4. press SELECT
