Hi. I have Sony SA-VA10 speakers, but have lost the original remote -- a RM-J10. I have:

1. Looked for a replacement on-line, but only found one for $75, which is too expensive.

2. I have a good Sony universal remote, RM-VZ320, but I can't find the correct remote code for the speakers, even though I've scoured the internet for it. (One guy somewhere said 0689, but that's a 4 digit code and my remote seems to want 5 digits.)

3. Tried the 991 trick, but that didn't work. (How many times do I have to push Aux/power?)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Tony

Your remote is made by UEI, so it uses UEI codes.  For Audio devices, prepend 8 to the 4 digit code.  So the desired code is 80689--but the manual doesn't list this code as built into the remote.

If the remote accepts 994 commands (I doubt that it does) then we can manually add the correct IR commands for each button.  Or, if you have a Comcast or other cable remote that uses UEI codes, we can use the 994 command on those.
