What cheap universal with backlit buttons can run 5 or more remotes and has enough memory to learn 3 of them completely? I just tried this 30 dollar radio shack and it ran out of memory after ONE frigging remote.
Thanks

SD, have you been to HIfi-remotes.com? don't know what RS remote you have, but with a JP1 cable you can reprogram the database of codes. So even though as programmed there is not enough memory, reprogrammed there might be

WHAT IS A JP1 CABLE. CAN I USE IT ON ANY REMOTE no, go here [Link: hifi-remote.com]it only works with remotes made by ueic. Basically it is a cable that allows you to reprogram the IR code database BTW on the internet typing in uppercase letters is considered shouting and rude. It should only be used to highlight a word or show anger. It is also harder to read.

Dog, Cheap universal with TONS of learning memory, try the Sony VL700 or VL900, $50 and under. The RS remotes are not designed to be "learning" remotes, they are universal remotes with a built in database of setup codes, the learning feature is just there to allow you to program a few missing buttons. Did you try the built in codes before you stared doing all the learning? Rob http://www.hifi-remote.com

Yeah I tried the codes but it doesn't support my JVC RX 8000 V surround receiver. I also do computers for a living and have NO desire to dink around with my remote. I just want one that works with mininmal effort. Thanks

Like most things in life, when you put minimal effort in, you get minimal results back. C'est la vie.

Get a Wife (yeah, that's a W, not an L). have her do the button pushing and remote programming, just think, gives you more time to type complaints.
You could probably get a chimp to learn JP-1 programming and program the remote for you. For a couple bananas a day, mite even train him to operate the thing. Don't know if it'd fit your budget tho.
Hmmmmm, minimal effort? could try prison life, there the guards will work the remote, can't get much more minimal effort than that.

Hey Super Dog--- have i got a deal for you. I have a couple remotes that are straight learners. 6 devices, 32 buttons per device for a total of 192 buttons you can learn into it. 2 red "power" keys, 2 grey up and down arrow, 2 blue up and down arrow. The number keys have 0-9. You could easily make plastic overlays to custom label the keys to help you remember what's where; including the deice switch label. I have several New in the Box. I'd trade ya even across for that 2116 you hate so much. I haven't found an IR signal yet it refused to learn; and it's learned several my other learners refused. You can learn to any key you want, whatever tickles your fancy. Jim
