I need some help with my TSU7k.....I recently got this one from Ebay:

Obviously, the screen is toast....or so you would assume. When it got here, the first thing I noticed was the lack of the 'oil-slick' look typical to a broken LCD. I went to the local Fred Meyers electronics dept, grabbed the appropriate USB cable and a universal 12volt AC adapter, hooked everything up and WOW!!! I got me a working NG for $56!!!! Now for the sticky part: the part that is in fact broken is the glass under the touchscreen. I took it apart (I took lots of pics if anyone is interested), and tried to peel the plastic touchscreen from the broken glass, but I ripped the traces in a couple of spots. I took apart my TSU-1000 (same physical size LCD) hoping to sacrifice the old remote for the life of the new one. No luck....the touchscreen is different between the two. Call me cheap, but if there is a way to get a new/used NG touchscreen/glass unit without having to drop $260 ('Out-of-warranty-exchange' per Philips), then this would make me.....well.....VERY HAPPY!!!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! If I am SOL, well, the I will send it in, as I had already planned (figuring it was a broken LCD).

Just thought I would give everybody an update on my remote. I found a source for TSU-7000 replacement LCD's AND touchscreens (either together as an assembly or as separate parts). I found the LCD (alone) for $163 and the touchscreen (again, alone) for $75. The whole assembly only runs $200. Since my remote only needs the touchscreen, I am going to order one this coming Friday. I will post again once I get the glasstop and get it installed.

Do they have parts for the 3000? I recently cracked the LCD (well, not me, but the result is the same...), although I do have a loaner Pronto for now, I obviously want to repair my old one...

I ordered my glasstop on Wednesday from pdaparts.com, but I imagine it will take a couple weeks to get here.

So the 7000 uses the same lcd and glass top as the HP iPaq?

Marky-Mark. That's the correct part #, and it is the same as the IPAQ.

Yes, it uses the same LCD and Glasstop as the 5xxx series iPAQ.

I also followed their instructions and removed the glass from the frame on my older RC9200 screen. For future reference, you can just swap the glass and not go the expense of buying the whole new LCD. I thought the glass would have been glued on but it was just double-sided 1/8 inch tape as they outlined here.

Well, I mailed out the money order last wednesday, and got the glasstop today. The only problem I encoutered was that I had to trim a tiny ledge off the lower plastic lcd 'stops' for the new glasstop to fit. Other than that, it works perfectly!!!! I thought my TSU-1K was addictive.....now for the REAL obsession!!!!!

Thank you for all the information on this, it came in very handy. I successfully replaced the glass from PDAparts and the Pronto worked great..

However, two weeks later, I pressed hard (I didn't think it was hard, but... ) on the center of the screen and it created hairline fractures in three directions and I'm right back where I started.

The question I have is that it appears as if this must have been caused by the glass sitting too high away from the LCD piece (for added support). Should I have removed the adhesive it came with and used a thinner piece?

Anyone else have a similar problem? I'm sure it's something I did, but before I purchase another glass piece, I just wanted to gather opinions on those who have already replaced it and if they did it any differently than the instructions indicated.

You should use the thinnest double-sided tape possible. Maybe this time around, you might want to just buy the whole screen.
