A friend of mine just bought a TSU 3000. Can my TSU 7000 color file be converted to a BW TSU 3000 file and be used in his remote? It would save me a ton of time to get him up and running.

Hi,
No, I don`t think it`s that easy ............. I`m not sure but I tought that the tsu 3000 doesn`t support transparency, so you`ll have to do a lot of redesigning of the buttonds to make it work on the 3000 !!

Ronald

P.S.
Someone pls correct me if I`m wrong on this one ...............

If you do a search you will find a recent thread where someone did this. All the steps are in there. Basically, you edit some parts of the xml file and then you open it. The transparencies will change so there will be a fair amount of redesigning buttons.

Here is the post:

(There is no longer a need for the described file conversion process below if you are using the latest version of PENG. The latest software will now load a TSU7000 PCF natively.)

I left out a few steps in the instructions you had quoted in that other thread JCL. The key one was the version number in both the xml file and in the comments for the .zip file. The version number when referenced as 003.000, needs to stay as is, not changed to 002.000. If changed, all the panel/button placements will be shifted to the top left corner of each page. By leaving the version number alone I found that the panel/button placements once loaded into PENG v2.0.6.0 are kept in tact. I also had no issues with transparencies. That is another thing, I am using PENG v2.0.6.0 to load the .pcf file. That may have something to do with it. I don't remember if the older editors had the same support for transparencies or not.

The strict instructions I followed are below. These are the only edits which I made. All this should be done while the file is still zipped within WinRAR/WinZip.

Make these changes to the ConfigEdit.xml file:

TSU7000: !--written by ProntoProEdit NG--
TSU3000: !--written by ProntoEdit NG--

TSU7000: [ProductID]TSU7000[/ProductID]
TSU3000: [ProductID]TSU3000[/ProductID]

The brackets in the edit above are really these, < >. With HTML code enabled for posting I could not show it as such as you will see it in the xml file.

Change the comments of the file in WinRAR/WinZip:

TSU7000: Type: 007
TSU3000: Type: 003

Lastly, make sure you are using PENG v2.0.6.0 to load the .pcf file.

Thanks for posting that quote in the other thread by the way JCL. This worked like a champ. Even better, there was zero clean up work to do.

Lowpro,
Thanks for your post. I just don't know anything about getting to xml file location or where to start with xml file.
With a few more hand-holding pointers, I'm ready to try. How do you get to the xml files? Are all the changes and comments made while the file is Zipped?
Also, is the only way buttons, etc stay in place is to use ver2.0.6.0 (no updates)?

Hi, I am new to the Forum. I have the same problem trying to convert a 7000 .pcf to a 3000 .pcf. However, I cannot seem to load any of the links you are posting. The sites come up missing? Can anyone email me a direct link? thanks

The site may have been down when you tried. Try it again and let me know.

I am not having any problems. If you are on dialup it may just be that. The HTML page has to load a 1 meg file.

FYI, here is the PCF conversion info for the Marantz RC9500 / Whizz.it 9 software:

To chage a PCF file to a Marantz RC9500 format set the file type to 10 and the version to 003:000 and the files should open just fine.
