dFORCE,

What you describe sounds like a PCF that is too big. The maxium size is around 6-8 Mb, and the symptom is a non successful download. No wonder it happens on any computer and any remote.

And in this situation I might expect some error trapping and meaningful dialog boxes with information on what caused the error instead of a mystery failure... I guess that's expecting too much.

Spot On!The Pronto always has been and remains a relatively low-cost device for the hobbiest. I used a TSU1000 for over three years, then converted to the TSU3000 about four months ago. Whatever the USB connect problems are with the 3000- and I've experienced none of these so far- they pale in comparison to the serial connect problems that the 1000s had. Sometimes I think the only sure cure would be a Pronto Rehab program. "Hi my name's Six Ohm and..."

Yes, several issues need to be resolved. Learning is always difficult with the 7000. I have not had too many sessions where I was learning but they all have been tedious. Also, IR speed needs to be improved, like it was on the 3000, so channel changing is easier, smoother. Yes, memory needs work, etc. I will write a note to Dick Mol at Phillips and ask him if he has an ETA.

Any updates on the ETA for the firmware?. I am no longer using my pronto to its full potential since no more memory is available and without it I cannot easily access my second dvd changer. Philips site mentions the Pronto as a 32MB device and it doesnt make it clear that only 16MB are available . Also I could swear that the upgrade was supposed to be available on the first or second quarter of this year....
Any information on this matter is apreciated.

I think it was supposed to be released then, but they changed it to 3rd quarter I think. They must be overwhelmed with bugs for the 3000, which are mostly fixed now, and new product development.

Thanks for letting me know JCl, at least I am not going nuts. But it just proves how unreliable Philips is. I was really gullible to buy such a high price item that wont be fully operational for the forseable future.

I'm in the same boat. Full memory and I still need to put in more DVD graphics, and a few hundred CD covers. Having said that, I wouldn't trade this remote for any other. Especially at this price point.

I am STILL waiting for fixes for my 7000, can't do lights and TV, so it also gathers dust while the trusty 1000 plods on...

Defending the 7000 is tricky. It doesn't do what my 1000 could do, and I can't remote control my IR equipment satisfactorily with it.

Other than that, it's OK!

I heard a rumor that Philips is currently working on updates, which should be coming within the next few months. 7000 will get improved stability and improved learning via PPENG. Seems like there is also an improvement coming for the 3000 as well but I don't have any specifics.

Thanks for the input Dave. I would like to say that I feel happy about it but I really cannot. Of course Philips is working on an update. The product has many many flaws and while said flaws do not make the product unusable they certainly irritate end users. I would be very surprised if they were not working on an update. Problem is we only have rumors and hear say. No firm date has been announced and the previous deadlines for the memory upgrade have come and gone with no resolution. I bought the Pronto on the belief that the company would come up with an upgrade on the first quarter. That did not happen. Philips never explained why while at the same time they keep calling the Pronto a 32MB device!!.Now it seems that the next update wont be out for another few months! and that may still not fix the memory issue, shame on Philips. Sorry for the rant but I've never been more upset with a company. Philips doesnt seem to care about its customers.
