Below are some shots of my first attempt of a Custom Color CCF.

Now mind you, I am no graphics wizard, and there are some areas that need "touching up" as you can see.

Let me know what you think.

John,

I'm very impressed, nice clean look. I'll look forward to seeing it in the files area. That is if you don't decide to make it proprietary to the business. It's gotta be for a 9200 -- right?

Sure is for the 9200 Jim.

And I'm sure you'll see it in the files section as soon as I get it finished.

Very nice. I like the icons for the channels. How do you get the compnent coeds into the RC9200? Where did you get the color icons from?

Not sure what you mean. If you mean IR codes, it's no different than any of the other Pronto family of remotes as far as learning goes.

Where did you get the color icons from?

These are custom buttons that are derived from the stations websites. I will upload the file as well as a gallery file when I complete this CCF.

Thanks Dale. Means a lot coming from a kindergardner. LOL.

J/K. Really thanks. It does mean a lot coming from you.

John-

Please allow me to give you my critique. This is a color remote and I feel that your ccf does not incorporate a variety of colors and instead focuses primarily in blues & grays.

Your buttons are standard, or dare I say sub-standard. The clumsy use of a plain rectangle with amateurish cartoon-like rabbit ears on top is a feeble way to represent a television. You are a master of understatement when you say you are “not a graphics wizard.”

Your so-called ”Numbers” keypad using plain test on simple buttons all arranged in a rigid grid has been so universally used as to be a cliché. Surely you could have done better. Your choice of “Favorite” stations is laughable, choosing “AMC” as your #1 Favorite, and deeming only 8 other stations as worthy of our consideration. Who do you think you are to impose your choices on the rest of us?

I find your entire concept & layout derivative, awkward & unimaginative. Although you’ve only shown us 2 panels, I’m confident that you will be wasting both your time & ours developing this concept further. I realize this is "your first shot", but I wouldn't bother to "re-load" as I feel no amount of “touching up” can save this inept & structurally flawed attempt.

I find nothing of value in your design. I don’t feel your wife/girlfriend is attractive. I’m more than slightly concerned about your nationality (Pechulis?) and think you may pose a national security risk. I don’t like your dog.

Please take this constructive criticism in the proper spirit.

Thank you.

For anybody who's not completely sure, YES, I'M JOKING!!!

John-

Now that I've got that out of my system...

We've signed up with Marantz just for the VP12S1 projector & the 5200/9200's... Aaarrrggghhh... time to convert to another format again. At least this won't be a "from-the-ground-up" re-build.

Please disregard my last post - I really do like your layout... Is it my imagination, or have you spent quite a bit of time with Elan VIA! panels?

Thanks for the preview - look forward to seeing the rest!

Barry

Barry,

I am glad you were being tongue and cheek. For a minute or two I thought you being a bit hard on the beaver. :)

The more complicated people make there CCF's I think the harder they are to actually use. This seems very simple and I am a big fan of tabs like you have. Nice work.
