Im looking for a code on ceiling fan for a Hampton Bay (Home Depot fan). I believe it is RF to control the light and the fan speed. Any help would be great.
Thanks a bunch.

I'm pretty sure you're right, it is RF meaning you won't be able to control it with you Pronto.

Yes, I have the a Hampton Bay also and it can not be controlled with the Pronto cause it is RF.

Here is a work-around to control a fan and a light with the Pronto.

If you can wire the light and the fan to work off of seperate wall switches, then you can use the X-10 switches and an IR to RF module (model 543) that will turn on/off, the fan, light or both. The fan will only come on at the speed set on the fan itself, but I have found I normally only use one speed (medium) most of the time.

Another side benefit to doing it this way is that the light will also be dimable, even if it wasn't able to be dimed originally on the fan. (Yes, the fan can be slowed with the diming feature too but not sure if the reduced power to it is good for it or not, but may work just fine, heck, give it a try!)

Hope this helps,

Actually the X10 modules are NOT rated for celing fans and it is not a good idea to run the fans through them. Of course you could still get an IR to RF converter and just use that directly with the Hampton Bay signals.

Although the light modules may not be designed for a fan, they still have a 600 watt capacity and seem to work fine. X-10 also makes an appliance module that may be better suited for a fan, but it would be more complicated to wire and setup since it is a plug in design.

If anyone else has tried it, let me know what your results were.
